Khan V Mayweather Agreed

Kotelnik did sod all because Khan didn't let him. It was a very good performance against a good fighter.

Salita, who knows? He was Khan's mandatory so he had to fight him or give up his belt. You can't even gauge how good he is because Khan had him out of there in about 90 seconds.

McCloskey, it was a clash of heads. Complete accident. It sometimes happens with really negative southpaws, which is what McCloskey was. Either way, Khan won every round.

Malignaggi, he was coming off a win and a robbery loss to Juan Diaz. Juan Diaz is a good fighter. He's split up from Buddy McGirt and he looked cracking in both Diaz fights.

As for Judah, he lost his way a bit at Welter. Took some tough fights and lost. Moved back to Light-Welter, beat two top 10 fighters and won a world title.

The problem with rematching Prescott was the fact that Prescott went on to look like total shit in his next half dozen fights. Khan was already struggling with the weight at 135 anyway so a move up was natural.

I just find you're whole argument baffling. You be-moaned the fact that he cherry-picks his opponents, yet he's beaten or pushed for a fight with 8 of the current top 10 in his division. The other 2 fighters both lost to Zab Judah right before Khan knocked him out.

He didnt so much struggle with the weight. It was more Freddie Roach just saying he was a natural 140 fighter and that previous trainers had put far too much muscle on his back.

His body fat was ridiculously low. Too low for an athlete at 135. Think it was below 5%. And he still weighed in bang on 135.

-- Wed Oct 12, 2011 3:10 pm --

Give over.

My view on Khan.
No matter what he done in the ring some of the fights he had has been questionalbe. Take the fights were he won by accidental head butt. The Barrera 1 should of been stopped straight away the cut was so bad but Warren made sure it went past the 4 rounds so there would be a winner with Khan getting it. He couldnt see any of the shots coming.
The McCloskey fight I have never seen a doctor jump into the ring mid round as quick as he did. He was on his way into the ring before the ref asked him to come in. The cut was no way as bad as Barreras but it got stopped straight away. Protecting Khan who even though he was winning the fight he was missing with a lot of shots and McCloskey was starting to come into the fight at the time. Khans team who are looking after him are a joke I know all the way through that fight negoatiations there was nothing but problems from Khans side.

The Maidana fight should be made again in the last few rounds Khan was on his bike and was lucky to survive thats the fight that should be made. Khan is avoiding Maidana in my view. Zab and Paulie were over the hill and finished no real surprises that Khan boxed them. I expected a Morales fight but the Khans are tight bastards with money that the fight wont happen. To have Morales on his cv would be good even if he isnt near the level of a fighter he was with the Wars with Pacman and Barrera. Yes Khan can come out and say there avoiding me we only have his side we have never heard from the fighters who are avoiding him. Bradley v Khan has to happen unify the division before he moves up if he can its a real test but with idiots looking after Khan he wont get the big fights.

agreed, very questionable and he seems to be just taking on guys he knows(apart from Maidana) he can beat and is praying for another year to go by and Mayweather to be past his peak by then so he has a chance.

I began to respect Khan after surviving Maidana in a great fight but McCloskey just gave me that same bitter taste as did the Judah debatable punch, you have to be very cynical to go against a pro in Zab who took the punch and to me if he says it was low and it caught him where it shouldn't then I think there is probably veracity to it, I'm not suggesting for a second that Khan meant to, I just think once again controversy mars a Khan win. Has been's and bizarrely ranked fighters are the only guys he's conclusively and fairly beaten.

McCloskey was starting to come into the fight? He was horrible. His sole intention seemed to be to get through the fight without getting stopped. He hardly threw anything and he leant so far back he was almost horizontal. The notion that he was 'coming into the fight' is quite odd. Khan landed 88 punches to McCloskey's 44 and that margin was getting wider and wider on a round by round basis.

As for the negotiations, i'm sorry but that was all down to Sky. Taking the fight off Box Office because the undercard fell apart is very shoddy. If i remember correctly you seemed to think this was all Khan's fault aswell....

As for Khan ducking Maidana....haha he's already fought him. Brilliant. He fought him once when he didn't have to. Why fight him again, when he doesn't have to? What's beating him again going to prove? It's like saying Maidana should rematch Morales before he fights Khan - that fight was closer than Khan vs Maidana.

Paulie was coming off the two best performances of his entire career against Juan Diaz. I will assume you didn't see any of them. Zab had just come off two wins over top ten ranked fighters, and he was the IBF world champion.

Morales was offered $1.5m for the Khan fight. He declined and faced Maidana for much less money. Bradley was offered a 50/50 split which would have given him around about $1.6m (career high pay day by a million miles) and he turned it down.

What do you mean, Khan won't get the big fights? He's promoted by GoldenBoy, and he's the number 1 fighter at 140lbs. Of course he will. When he's finished at 140, he will move up to 147 where there will plenty of big fights for him.

-- Wed Oct 12, 2011 6:03 pm --

Again disagree.

"very questionable and he seems to be just taking on guys he knows(apart from Maidana) he can beat "

Who at 140 should he be looking to fight then? He's fought and beat 4 of the top 10. He's offered 2 others a fight for big money and they said no. So that only leaves 4 top 10 fighters left for him to fight. 2 of them have recently lost to Judah, so what would he gain from that? 1 has moved up to welterweight, and he's fighting the last remaining fighter in December. So in you're own opinion, who at Light-Wleterweight should he fight next? (after Peterson)

As for those fighters being bizarrely ranked...i'd love to know who you'd have ranked above them at 140?

Nearly every Boxing publication out there has that top ten. Those aren't the rankings of the individual governing body's (which are bizarre). They're independent rankings.

As for Judah, the punch landed on the belt ling. Nowhere near his bollocks. Zab was getting thoroughly dominated and he looked for a way out.

I get the impression you have a little crush on khan ono - he's a good fighter mate, polished up considerably since roach took him under his wing and can only beat whats in front of him, however you make him out to be fucking sugar ray, he may clean up the division, he may step up and do the same the weight above but hand on heart ask yourself -

is he in manny/moneys leagues? na

it was still controversial...

There's an "interesting" light welterweight fight this weekend between Kendall Holt and the unbeaten 23 year old Danny Garcia, if Garcia wins that he could be a potential contender for Khan, some sources say it's an IBF Eliminator which should mean the winner has to face Khan? Garcia's 21-0(14 KO), could be interesting if he beats Holt, and there's Jesus Vargas, another young American(22) at 17-0 who it's most likely too early for Khan to fight but if he picks up a few more wins then he's also an unbeaten candidate, if Bradley won't fight him.

Peterson will be a good fight for Khan and I look forward to it, he may then be asked to defend against Garcia/Holt but if Bradley won't step in the ring with him there's a lot anyone can do about that. If he moves up part of me wants him to earn a shot against Money to prove himself at Welterweight and part of me wants him to be thrown in there as otherwise Mayweather will be getting old and it gives Khan a better chance which I don't want as it would be sickening if Khan beat him. Then i'd love Khan to be thrown in against Pacquiao and be sent silly like Hatton was. Kell Brook is a welterweight so that could be a good fight in that division as could Mike Jones, who has a WBO Eliminator v Lujan in December and is also undefeated, could even stick him in with Ortiz, Matthew Hatton and earn a shot against Berto(if he's still champ by then), if they want to go the Haye route and have him as World Champ to increase their bargaining power in fights. I gather they want to fight in the next year or so(money/khan), so that would leave maybe only 1 more match after Peterson before the showdown, and you'd have to say if Khan's moving up he needs to fight at welterweight before facing Money, maybe a fight in Britain if his Money match is gonna be in Vegas, which leans me towards Brook, because Kell beat the #5 on the IBO list and if I'm right that was a WBA Eliminator, which would mean he'd go to face the undefeated Senchenko, and if he won that he could use it as a bargaining chip for a Khan match, and they could fight in the UK for big money, and if he lost Khan could just use him as a warm-up anyway.

who knows lol, I think there's a lot more for him at 147 to face, the only danger is plowing into a fight with Money, getting his arse handed to him and then not really having anywhere to go with it, he's still young though and if he wants the ultimate credibility of beating money and/or paq he has to beat them in the next couple of years before their powers wane imo.

The 1 from America I am looking forward to see is Vernon Paris in Khans weight they could do a movie on this kid. Was shot 3 times and still has 2 bullets in his body. The kid is exciting.
