Khan V Mayweather Agreed

Leighton, that's a flawed logic.

If you move up a weight class, you don't have to start from scratch again.

Name me a fighter who has never won a World title and moved up a weight and got a World title fight? The rankings mean fuck all these days once you have a top promotor you will get a World title very fast compared to other fighters with less money behind them.

Off the top of my head, i know Oscar De La Hoya moved down to a weight division in which he'd never competed in to get his first title shot. He won, defended it, and then moved up to Lightweight, and immediately got another title shot.

The point is, he won those fights easily, so the title shot was justified.....as he was clearly good enough to be a world champion. You've already admitted that rankings don't mean anything anyway, so what difference does it make?

Its a bit like Calzaghe v Froch or Witter v Hatton you had Witter and Froch looking for a fight but the others avoided the fight. This is what I can see happening with Kell and Khan. Khan wont want to take on the fight.
The scenario is exactly the same in all 3 of these cases. One fighter is trying to make a name for themselves off the back of another (more successful) one.

How many top 10 Welterweights has Brook fought? Considering everyone thinks he deserves a shot at Khan it must be a fair few.

Murray doesnt deserve a shot. I am hearing from people that Kevin Mitchell is pissed with Warren if anyone deserved a shot at a World title it would of been Mitchell. He is pissed with Warren and rumours are when he contract runs out he will be looking for a new promotor.

As for Khan doing more than Brook. Yes he has been managed well by Warren. Since Warren signed Khan he got him a world title even when he shouldnt of been fighting for it. Kell was always second fiddle to other fighters while with Warren. First off Khan then it was Cleverly , Degale and the olympians no wonder he left Warren he was going stale under Warren. Since his move to Matchroom Eddie Hearn has got him regular fights. The step up for Khan to Welter will be a problem and Kell if he is champion could well be a option of a fight. Kell seems to think he has enough to beat Khan and it will be a tight fight and it wouldnt shock me if Kell beat Khan.

I always thought the Witter one was a different situation as well he was a bit shit and Hatton was getting mega pay days in America. Why would he come back and fight Witter in the Bradford leisure center when he could fight big names in Vegas. The Calzaghe and Froch one was interesting, would of been a great fight

They both would have been intriguing enough fights, but again, Froch, much like Witter was still fighting on Friday Night Fight Night's at Nottingham Ice Arena, when he started calling out Calzaghe.

Will never understand why it took TV so long to realise Froch was the real deal

It always happens. Over the years the potential fights that could of been made and been good fights that never got made.
Collins v Calzaghe - Collins retired as he couldnt get a fight with Roy Jones Jnr.
Calzaghe v Froch - Joe called it a day when a Froch fight would of been a great fight.
Naz v Scott Harrison - Never understood why this was never made both were World Champions at the same time Harrison hated Naz and it would of been a huge fight in the UK at the time.

Any chance 1 of the mods move this tread into the big boxing tread.
