Kicking off in Leicester

I don't sugar coat anything, and i don't tolerate fools, and some don't like that.....but i believe i'm always fair.As for 'extremism'? im not sure to what you refer,but,again.....i only speak from the heart and my frame of references/experience.

I’d guess most people would consider someone telling other folk which sports team they “should” support, as quite an extreme position.

Not remotely, its basic patriotrism.....its not a case of deciding which Prem team to support....its a case of having a pride in the country which you were born in,one which provides you with the existence and privileges on offer.

To throw that back appears very disloyal and unpatriotic to me,and is fundamental to division and disrespect and all the disharmony that accompanies such.

Not at all my friend. In my experience english born descendants of polish/Irish/Scottish parents are more likely to follow their parents national team. I would guess that’s the same with Spanish/French/German or whoever by enlarge.

Why the poster brought up Indian and Pakistani only I don’t know but you can draw your own conclusions.

Also moved the goalposts as well from being born here if they move back to their parents native land at some point. I wonder would he expect KDBs children to support England or Prince Harry’s to support the USA (believe he lives there now. Apologies if not).

I also wonder if he would expect the owners of the queens head in benidorm (Derek and Sue) son Ian to support Spain
I have Polish family heritage. And while I do want them to win when they play anyone but England, if I happen to be watching, I don’t support them. I couldn’t tell you who they’re playing this week.

I know loads of people with Irish heritage who support England. Liam and Noel are good wider known examples, both England fans.

So you don’t know Irish/Polish heritage people who support Ireland or Poland? Happy to take you round many pubs when Ireland are playing football or rugby if you like?

Can I ask are both of your parents polish?

Also Noel Gallagher he been quoted as not feeling English at all and supports the Irish. Not sure about Liam but don’t recall him supporting either national team https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/noel-gallagher-admits-loathes-england-7844486.amp so maybe not that well known English fans

You say that as if it’s an accepted fact that patriotism is a good thing. Id suggest over the course of history, people with overtly patriotic tendencies have a caused a few more issues than those who take a casual approach as to which bit of land they randomly happened to have been born in.

Proud of an accident of birth? Meh.

No, just me Mother’s side. My Grandad supports England and he’s Polish. But have got family members and mates who support Poland. Some who want both to win.

All of my mates with Irish heritage (some with two Irish parents) born in England, support England. I’ve got one mate with Irish parents who supports Celtic and England (…I know, haha!).

Just saying it’s more common that people might think for people to support England when they’re born here despite having parents from elsewhere. It’s also more common for immigrants to start supporting England despite not even being born here than people realise.

There’s a Pakistani fella who worked in the shop near my old house who supports Pakistan in cricket and England in footy.

I work with a Dutch lad whose parents are both from the Middle East somewhere (can’t remember which country) who’s lived here for about ten years now who supports England.
