Been using a fire stick for months now without a problem, today however it's decided to pack up. I've been thinking about getting myself a box for a while, so now seems like the perfect time. I don't really know where to start though. I've been following this thread since the start and I keep hearing people talk about different boxes and ones that come with gifts? I'm just confused.

So which is the best box? The price isn't really an issue, if I'm going to spend big then it might as well be the best one. Any help would be appreciated [emoji4]

The boxes with gifts you refer to are Linux satellite receivers that share card details for a satellite subscription over a private server; commonly referred to as internet key sharing. The negatives are:

* Definitely riskier in terms of possibly getting caught and then prosecuted

*You need a satellite dish

* It's not free, very cheap though

* Encryption can change; especially on HD channels which means you might have to watch some games in SD

There pros are:

* If you're on a good server then you'll get no buffering

* Click and play; instead of having to sometimes hunt for streams, you are getting a much more reliable experience

* It's the closest alternative to sky

This is completely different from Kodi and designed for live TV only

If you prefer to use the bluemoon build I recommend the fire TV 4k box mate. However if you want to go down the card sharing route, zgemma stars are apparently pretty good :)

Thank you for your reply, you're an absolute superstar. The time you must spend replying and helping is all out is unreal, I appreciate it [emoji4]

As for the boxes you mentioned, the blue moon build is all I need to be honest. It's always worked a treat. The fire TV 4K box, where's the best place to get one from mate?

You're most welcome bud ;)

I'd recommend going directly to amazon to buy a fire TV 4k as they are the company that makes them bud :)

Here is a link: Amazon product ASIN

If this is your thought go for the Nvidia Shield tv great piece of kit https://shield.nvidia.com/android-tv

Just installed it and had a quick look, it looks like it's all archived games and no live options, great for re-runs though if you're not around to watch it live.

Yeah its pants really and if you want to watch reruns of games and catchup of MOTD and sunday supplement plus other footy programs Castaway is where to go to.

Just downloaded the new build and was going to change the buffering setting as per the video on page one but it looks like they have already been set. I'm seeing a lot less buffering especially on HD channels. Do I still need to change them?

yep.. i was in internetless wales till late last night, today watched sd quality of the game without much hassle nor interuption

maybe others offer the same, i am not aware, though i use Kodi very rarely now. I came on the forum looking for a quick link to download the game last night after coming back from a country that didn't have internet (North Wales) to no avail

I did have some other peoples updates to do and road testing i tried to find the city game, full first and second half links gave me reason enough to recommend since i couldn't find a link on a bloody mcfc forum without digging :)

Ah fair enough, castaway does have that but I'm not sure how good it is; might have a sniff around when I get back from the pub :)

Yeah I already tweaked the settings a few weeks ago per request bud :)

have installed the new build on SPMC on my firestick after i was having lagging/buffering issues on the kodi standalone program. Im still having problems watching any sports channels though they seem to run fine for a minute and then start buffering or just totally freeze up, have no issues whatsoever when watching films or tv shows just seems to be live tv. Any ideas folks its driving me mad. Also is there anyway of getting a tv guide on the builds like we have on sky so you can see whats on all channels at the same time rather than having to load each one up to find out what is on.

Install this for the TV guide: https://seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how-to-install-setup-ftv-guide-kodi-xbmc/

On the buffering side of things; it's likely just the streams you are using; perhaps an upgrade to the new 4k fire TV might improve the situation but I honestly doubt it; unless anyone else can say otherwise from experience :)
