Only one other time that has been known to happen with a legit app (trying to combat piracy) and the maker got torn to bits.
For those not in the know, NO app, under any circumstances should want access to your hosts file, EVER!

I understand if you don't want to mate, but could you try updating it to 16.1? Basically I accidentally upgraded the build to Kodi 16.1 compatibility and I'm worried that will cause a few issues :/New instal of kodi 16.0
