Be patient he's not been terrible, but he does have a lot of room for improvement but this league is completley different to the italian one, i think he's shown enough for people to see he could be a very good left back for our club.
Vargas who is touted in that player + cash deal seems more suited to the English game than Kolarov though. He's a bit older (27, will be 28 shortly after the start of next season) but is one of the best crossers of the ball from left-back I've seen. Still think Coentrao would be the ideal option but Vargas could do a good job if he doesn't succumb to the Manchester City Left-Back Curse(tm).
Even Lahm would struggle at the left-back the way we play.
Kolarov get no protection from our midfield, and is often left on his own on our left side. Silva is rarely in his position when the opponents attack.
AJ on our right side is a much safer option defensivly.
No fullbacks in the PL has put in more crosses than Kolarov.
We should give him at least another season, pretty sure he will come good!
Coentrao is a winger playing at left back. People are moaning about Kolarov being poor defensively and then suggesting the solution is a guy who is an even worse defender. Interesting...
Coentrao & Vargas are the same - great going forward but not exactly sound defensively
Kolarov just needs to learn to handle the pace of players like baines does. Neither are exactly shit off a shovel but you dont see baines getting skinned 4 times a game.
I believe if we stick with him he'll be like a nigel or a zabba and find his form and cope with the pace the prem
Its been a terrible 1st season from AK, Boateng, Milner (played out of position)...and to an extent Dzeko (not had an service though)
