I don't mind Kolarov but you expect a much better player when you spend that sort of money.

too soon to judge,
first season, i dont think pace is the issue. I personally dont believe he is slower than pab zab.
He is not as sharp as he needs to be for this league ,.yet these things take time. He has got to get fitter, shed some weight..make no mistake he has a little fat however he has the wrong type of muscle. Almost like micah last year.

im happy for him to be given more time and a chance to adapt.
I think we need another LB regardless just because Zaba or Boateng moving across isn't a sustainable answer.

When people go to the game they should get behind the players and give them support for the full 90mins... I do that and never boo our players whatever i think of them.
However, this is a message board where us blues can say what you really feel...
I, like many others, think Kolarov isnt good enough. He hasnt got the pace and cant defend to the level i expect a left back playing for us should.
Id get rid in the summer. Too slow, cannot tackle, gives the ball away far too often and shoots when sometimes it would be better to pass.
Dont get me wrong hes not rubbish, just not good enough for us imo.

Agreed, as someone who has actually seen Coentrao play many times I have to say he's not as good as Kolarov or Zab and wouldnt last a season here.
Coentrao was pretty much unknown until he was given a good rating on fifa11, which is the place most people on here seem to get their football info.

on the pace thing, people seem to forget we put Sylvinho up against Aaron Lennon last season...but regardless of that, how many good left backs have that kind of pace that the really pacy wingers have? i can't think of any. The thing about those wingers is there delivery is inconsistent, so rather than think "we have to have a guy who can match him for pace" we should think "we need a guy with good awareness, positioning and technical ability who can shut off most of the crosses so the probability of a good one coming in goes down".
I think Kolarov needs to improve on that but I think that comes with time playing in the country and growing into the league and the pace of the game and I think he can come on leaps and bounds in that respect.

Omg...cmon. Coentrao is not only good on FIFA11. He has got the quality to become the best left back in the world. Did you see him in the world cup and this season? Last season was his breaktrough year.
But the guy is only 22. So of course he wasn't that known 2 years ago. Was Kolarov known as one of the best left backs in the Serie A when he was 20-22? I doubt that. he is already 25.
Coentrao is only 22 and is already a regular in portugal national team! He got it all..vision, pace, creativity, good cross.
But i want Kolarov to stay in City too.

I agree he is a short of blistering pace but I think he is a better player than his form this season has indicated so far. Many players need time to find their feet in the premiership, remember Silva did not look a world beater at first. It is important we should give full support to all our players and help them find their best form and confidence. If we decide to sell them in summer so be it.
