Kolarov [Merged]

Poor defender but excellent going forward, not what is required at this club. We need a player who is at least competent in defence but Kolarov is not, he's shown his frailties far too many times this season. But it doesn't matter anyway as he's on Jose's wish list and he's open to a move to Madrid so he'll be there soon enough.

why do all these players want to go to Madrid? I understand they are a huge club but it's got to be one of the worst places for your career prospects, they rarely fully appreciate decent players and are looking to replace them in no time at all (see Sneijder, Robben, Van Der Vaart et al), it's like a circus with no stability at all, it's ultra-cuthroat, etc etc...

Signing for Real Madrid should be the height of any footballer's ambition, they're the biggest club in the world and constantly attract the biggest stars, to sign for Real Madrid is to become a star, to achieve your life goals. Despite all their failings, not much can go wrong once you sign for Real Madrid. If you succeed, you go down in history as one of the best ever, if you fail, you're pretty much guaranteed a move to another big club anyway, rarely does a player leave Real Madrid for a terrible side, and for Kolarov it'd be a step up from Lazio, so he has nothing to lose.

But, aside from all of this, to make it as a professional footballer you generally have to have a lot of confidence in your own ability; should you have this you should be of the mindset that you will go to Real Madrid and succeed.

kolarov is going to madrid 100%

So is every fucking man and his dog if you believe everything you see in the papers. City have deals in place with Real and Barca imo so anyone linked with either who signs for them was never on our radar in the first place.

Deals in place??? What exactly would that deal constitute? Hey City, we can buy anyone we want with or without your permission but we'll let you know before hand? :) The only deal I remember being mentioned was that Real and City agreed to not create bidding wars of mutual targets so as to avoid artificially inflated prices. That being said, I don't think Kolarov was ever a serious City target and besides, according to the ever reliable press, Kolarov has apparently agreed to terms with Real with mention that City's name may have simply been a negotiating tactic:

Watching him now am very disapointed hope we don't sign him. He's been skinned 3 times.

I think Bridge looks better than him - not impressed so far - if he can't defend he will fit in well at Madrid.
