It seems City had agreed a deal with Lazio but "official" announcements of this agreement have still to take place. If the monies have been agreed I can't help but think City may not consider this deal a priority which is why it's dragging on. Perhaps they feel if we miss out it's not a big deal as we currently have cover at left back. Just surmising.....
or could be that we have someone else in mind and are still working on that in complete secrecy

Indeed although not sure how many other decent left backs there are left that would walk into the City side just now........

So then blues what do we think to this Kolarov business? personally fcuk him and move on, yes i'm aware that might seem like i'm being impatient however we've been negotiating this deal for a fair while and nothing seems to be happening. Don't want players fcuking us about!

I think it's more to do with the club than the player, seems to be all about payment and fees and you can't blame the player for that. We need to patient, just because we don't sign a player within a week of interest being made public doesn't mean we should forget it and move on especially as he's probably the best left back that we could get

It's probably three things all combined. Each as frustrating as the other two in their separate ways.

1. The Club

Whilst Lotito is known to be a 'diificult' character, Lazio ususally process their transfers pretty staightforwardly once their mind is set.

2. The Player

Aleksandar Kolarov to my knowledge has never publicly indicated that he does or doesn't want to come to us. All that has been written in the Italian and British media has been based on specualtive reporting such as the Ian Ladyman article headlined on the back page of the Daily Mail nine/ten days ago. I certainly would not place the blame on the Serb. Yet.

3 The Agent Not too much has been said about his involvement in this matter. I'd bet that he has played a significant part in putting a spanner in the works. There's a strong possibility that he has hawked the Serbs name amongst Serie A clubs if there is the slightest chance of increasing his pimp money.

As it happens, Juve are in dire need of a new left back. Having struggled with the mediocrity of LB's like Molinaro, De Ceglie, Grosso** and the like for the best part of the last three seasons, they fully realize that they need to step up to a player with real class like Kolarov. If Lotito is aware of this, as I'm sure he would be, then he is the sort of unprincipled individual who would spin his way out of some kind of inter-club deal that he has shaken hands on with us (if reports are to be believed).

I'm now less confident than before that Kolarov will sign for us. However, I believe that the whole episode will reach a conclusion in the next 24 hours.

** Grosso now a shadow of the player he was 5 years ago.

OK, this is the score, reading between the lines (specifically La Repubblica) the reason for Lotito making the illusion of hawking Kolarov to other clubs is because we wish to pay in two installments (as is common practice in inter-country transfers) whilst an Italian club would have to pay in one go (as based on FIFA rules for intra-country transfers).

Lazio's main problem is that the players that they want (Antonelli & Aquafresca) are both at Italian clubs (Parma & Cagliari respectively) and they would not have the necessary money to buy them both with the €10m that they would initially receive from us.

It would seem however, according to a Lazio fansite (I have looked on La Repubblica website, and cannot find the story so it may only be in the printed version), that we have finally agreed €10m upfront & €8.5m in 1 year with them, and that Kolarov is due to take his medical on Monday.

That sounds much more promising. Thanks for the explanation YCNMIU. The fact that there has been no public indications that the 'deal' has soured is likely to point in the direction of finetuning of the payment between the clubs. Either that or City have walked away from the deal altogether. If that is the case, it would be normal for us to confirm this officially immediately thereafter so as to end worthless speculation.

Latest from Corriere Dello Sport is that Lazio are in for Sau Paulo midfielder Hernanes with the money they're set to receive from Kolarov. Says deal will be announced shortly for Kolarov to us for 18million then mentions it'll be between Saturday and Monday

Thanks, and to think that I managed to post it without any Youtube links, or claims that I have special insider knowledge of the deal. I just read a few reports on the web, providing sources, and then provided my opinion........ ;-) (just pulling a few legs, Giles)
