Kolarov

In regards to my comment about Milner and De Jong, I think that if one of them was playing in place of either Barry or Yaya, we would have seen a different flow of play. De Jong would have freed up the other holding midfielder and protected better on the counters. Milner is very suited to getting the balls out to the flanks from a central position. I'm not saying Barry or Yaya had a bad game, but that their play is more suited to moving the ball through the middle.

I'd agree with most of that, but as you say, they weren't available.

Not sure about how de Jong is "very suited to getting the ball to the flanks."

That was said in regards to Milner. De Jong is a decent forward passer, but his ability to cover the CBs would allow the other central midfielder to roam more. That would also pull Napoli players out of position.

and add to this that i would like to see which manager in an home game against a defensive italian side where you can expect to get a lot free kicks and corners would renounce to a player with the left foot kolarov has

I am curious. How many free kicks has Kolarov scored for City?

Also, not a single comment from anyone on the cross compilation? Surprising, I'd say.

mind you he's still a good player

Youtube blocked the compilation quicker than a two dollar hooker bj.

So I upped it to Daily Motion:

The last cross by Zab is pissing me off more and more the more I watch it. Can anyone say tap in by Dzeko?

I did think de Rossi or M'Vila would have been a good addition to the squad, should De Jong get injured. While Yaya mostly played as a defensive lock in front of the back four during his years in Barca, his strengths are obviously as a more forward player.

interesting point made here-

"In the 3-5-2, if the wing-back comes inside, he opens up space on the flank for the opposition full-back motoring forward unchecked. However, because Napoli’s front three made sure they were occupying Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandr Kolarov, Cristian Maggio and Juan Zuniga could afford to come inside and track Samir Nasri and David Silva."
