Kolarov was excellent again today. His only shot that wasn't blocked went in, he supports that side well enough, and he dealt with Lavezzi well whenever he came down his side. Are you sure you're not just seeing what you want to see, hmm?
Did you watch the game ? Kolarov was shocking apart from his goal,Laveezzi took him to the cleaners

Maybe excellent was a slight exaggeration, but he was decent at least. To say he was shocking is… I can't think of a word for it. It's clinically obese.
And how did Lavezzi take him to the cleaners when the single time he ran at him, he defended it well and put it out for a corner. Bear in mind Lavezzi was playing very much on the left or very centrally.
And you've hit on what really went wrong last night.

It was our central defense. Barry was spotty being able to get back last night and Kompany had some lapses. Lescott was fine defensively, but with Napoli sitting back so much, neither he nor Kompany did well enough passing forward to help us unlock their defense.

To all, please note I'm not saying Barry-Lescott-Kompany are shit or need to be benched or sold or anything ridiculous. I'm saying it was our weakness last night. If De Jong was fit, it would have solved a lot of the problem, but I'm not sure if Lescott is up to the task passing-wise against a team sitting back like that. Kolo would be a great choice against Napoli last night.

We're not blaming him for the result, it's just a general opinion of him as a player. I've thought this all last year and I just can't see any signs of him improving.

I guess I'm just one of them supporters who watch the game and not the scoresheet.
If you watched the game, then I would hope you could point out the actual weakness in our game last night. So far you haven't.

I agree I believe Mancini missed a trick there. We had most of the possession (63%) but with us playing most of our football in front of the Napoli defence we needed speedy wingers/fullbacks to get behind them and feed Edin to get us the goals. Their left back was Shauny's size and Richards would have mullered him down that wing.
I don't think so. Give some credit to Napoli. Their positioning was excellent.
Napoli were excellent defensively and closed all the spaces off. They man marked Silva and I doubt we will come up against a better defensive unit this season. It was a classic away performance from them and any time we found space or chance to run at them we were scythed down ruthlessly. Yeah, give credit to them but if our two chances that hit the bar had gone in, it would have been a different story today. We will beat Bayern away.

Agreed. I don't want to declare Bayern beaten just yet though. ;)

It was a mistake not playing clichy as I think Nasri works well with him.

He did save us though so not going to be too harsh.
It was crying out for Clichy I agree. I think we would have won if he'd have started, and also if we brought Tevez on earlier.

It's a shame Kolarov can't just come on for free-kicks and then go back off again.

Bollocks!! He did sod all and showed no interest in his warm-up, a portend of his lack-luster performance.

Just had a quick scan through and basically everyone's agreed Clichy is better and the only argument for Kolarov is still "he scored, he's good at free kicks", basically what I said.

As I said earlier on, he didn't perform and didn't look fit. It was still a gamble that needed to be tried though. When Napoli had their spell after the break, we needed to make changes and give them something to worry about. Clichy was the obvious change and one of or both of AJ and Tevez needed to be introduced.

Yes, agreed that Clichy is better than Kolarov at this moment. What you seem to be getting at though is that he is shit and should be sold. Bollocks, you're just using him as a scapegoat which is pathetic.

Well considering since you can count his good games on one hand since he arrived then yeah, you're probably right, I wouldn't be too arsed if we got rid.

We can do that with Clichy, too.
