Kolarov

Tbh, almost anybody with a left foot is a better defender than Kolarov, he's fucking useless. Failing that, any half decent defender who is right footed is better than kolarov.

Great at set pieces though & if he goes, we have hardly anyone at the whole club who is likely to score from a free kick. Unless we sign Van Persie of course.

He 'll ony go if we get decent money for him though. Mancini likes him, so he won't go cheap.
Yeah sometimes it looks like the only one that rates the player is the manager. Good guy to have in your corner I suppose though.

WTF when we go after a player the price quoted always starts at 20m

Rule no.1 of the football media: when a player is joining manchester city, report that it is for double the actual fee and treble the actual wage

Rule no.2: when a player is leaving manchester city, report that the fee is half the actual fee

Rule no.3: When a player is joining or leaving Manchester united, report the opposite of rules 1 & 2 respectively

Haha so true

I'd believe in Rekik. Can play as a left-back too.

I think Jeremy Helan is better option as a left wing-back.
Edited for accuracy.

Edited for your accuracy

He has got raw physical power, and is a decent dribbler but he does n't have the intelligence to play as a winger at the top level, if he comes from further back he will have more space, won't make as good a defender as Maldini, but his obvious physical strengths will help compensate for any deficits in that area.

On Rekik, though does anybody think he might make a good Barry-esque player, GB also started out at CB, moved to LB, LM then CM with a box-to-box and has now settled in to a role where his reading of the game allows him to excel. Does anybody else think that Karim Rekik could show promise in a similar role.

I think he could play there yes. And be something special as he is faster & will soon be stronger than Barry in every aspect of the game bar positional sense, which he can learn.

I don't know which position Rekik will end up in (he may be too short for the Prem at cb) but I'm pretty sure he's going to be a hell of a player & Barry/Nige's position may just be where he ends up.

I've been to the Corriere dello Sport website which talkSPORT cites as the source and the only Kolarov story they have says Inter are still trying to take him on loan. Can't see anything that suggests the deal is advanced as much as talkSPORT suggests unless it's only in the print version of CdS.

Wages and fees to City could EASILY be £6M. If Kolarov and Mancini believe that will do him some good AND get him off the payroll for a year, then maybe they will do a deal?

Maybe Kolarov should be played in front of Clichy as a left midfielder/winger with AJ on the right every now and then. Give Nasri and Silva/Barry a rest and play with wingers and two inside midfielders, with a center forward and withdrawn striker! Sorted!

A good player who doesn't suit the English game unfortunately.

Agree with this, excellent going forward and best in our squad at crossing as well as set pieces.

I think his downfall is he is really slow at getting back and doesn't work hard enough when defending. Pretty important when playing in the Prem and probably why he's suited to playing in Italy where a lot of the games are played at a slower pace.

To be fair to Kolorov though every time I go to a game and he starts he gets so much abuse before he even kicks a ball, it's no real surprise he doesn't perform as well as he could.
