But there must be better options available than him at the minute. Has Hughes forget that there are foreign leagues, not just our own
we may look abroad as well mate
I hope so, there must be a better defender out there than Toure for what we will pay for him.

If he can get back to his best, i'd love him here. But he's been gash for a couple of years now and we might aswell look elsewhere

i agree mate however towards the back end of last season there were signs of him regaining his form. I think we will get either 1 or 2 more defenders after Kolo

Acne isn't funny. Poor lad.

And neither is pretending to be something you are not, or pretending to know someone who you dont or just telling lies all the time.......

Re: toure agrees city move (merged)

Not even that good anyway. He's past his best. I think the only reason we would be signing him is because Hughes can see potential in him and getting him back to the form of 2 years ago. We need players for now, not for 2 seasons time.
He is 2 seasons behind his best, i'd look elsewhere if i was Hughes.

Re: toure agrees city move (merged)

As long as we get Lescott and keep Nedum I am not too worried but he would certainly not be my first choice.

TBH mate i haven't really seen a lot of him recently, so i wouldn't know his recent form but if he's back to his best then i'm all for a deal.

But on your second point, it bothers me even more that if we sign 3 centre halfs then Ned will get pushed out again and i want him to continue to get his chance while he hasn't let us down

Re: toure agrees city move (merged)

Toure even past his best is a much better player than Dunne or Ben Haim so its definately a step forward looking on the positive side.

Re: toure agrees city move (merged)

Even if he doesn't return to his past form, he'd still be the best CB on our team. It would also weaken Arsenal further.

Who knows, maybe Hughes believes he can get him back to his best at City.

why is it we need players NOW. there is at least a five year, if not a ten year plan in place. the only reason we Need players now is to break the top 4 like people think we will do. no need for the added pressure. the aim was top 10 last season, top 6 this year then push for a champions leauge place.

are you tellin me that you would be dissapointed with fith spot. and if so, your as bad as the "new fans" we will end up with.

im only 23 but i have been waiting for a season like next season for about 19 years. but lets not build ourselves up for a fall. solid top 6 next season and i would be delighted. if we break top 4 then MH and the squad need a bloody good pat on the back.

toure would be a great signin. yes i agree there is better about but he is better that TBH and dunnie. hes got premiership experience and plays at the top level season after season. he will definatly take us to the next level. (just to point out to the not-so-clever-few. this is not chapmions). lets enjoy the rest of the transfer window and next season without getting ahead of ourselves and being dissapointed at the fact we didn't live up to the over-hyped expectations

We shouldn't set the standard of buying anyone just because they are better than another player in the squad. They need to be good enough for where we want to be, not where we've come from.

And I'd argue that Toure past his best is better than Dunne, hopefully he can recapture his form otherwise it's not an upgrade at all.

Why not?

Surely we should be looking at the sort of players that will get us into the top 4.

Sometimes I think people want to build a side capable of getting us to 9th, then build a new side capable of getting us into 8th, then build a side ....

Typical happy clapper, the one who thinks the sun shines out of Dunne's arse, god i hate these type of City fans with no ambition whatsoever, the type who would be happy to see us back in Div 2/League One instead of having the opportunity to compete and challenge the top teams.

We sign the best players we possibly can to strengthen as many areas as we can, and we finish where we finish.

i know what your sayin mate but i can't believe people dont want a top class player. he has been abit poor the last 18 months but he was struck down with maleria (spelling). i saw him looking very good at the back end of last season.

i really rate him. arsenal have finished top 4 for years and also done well in the CL so hes definatly got the experience.

i would be happy with him.

it just seems that we have got a bit dissilussioned from this terry business. (me included)

you right in that we should be pushing for higher positions but top 4. lovely if we get there. i for one will be exstatic.

definatly exciting isn't it

To be fair next season is our best chance... Season after next we will have the Europa league to deal with... If you wanted to create a tournament to keep the top 4 safe it would be the Europa league.

I do not think we will have an easier shot in the next few years.

Re: toure agrees city move (merged)

Moomba: can we both agree that some of our signings since January may not prove? Can we both agree that some of our home-grown, ultimately (see what I did there, as a sop?), may not prove?

I couldn't agree more (as I said very early - after Terry anounced - in the Terry thread) that we ought to (continue to) go for broke (sorry for the Americanism, I suppose I watch too many American films, listen to too much American music, cum over too many jug-eared Marxist-American presidents, fawn over American fast-food), i.e. City should not stop attacking just because some alien fans and intentionally ignorant / deliberately obnoxious journos open their maws to spew and mew.

HOWEVER...

you can get stuffed. i have more ambition than most. i just dont want to set myself up for dissapointment. i can hear the fans around us now, sayin " bloody hell, we should be beating everton/liverpool/arsenal etc" jus does my head in. lets beat the teams we should be beatin and finish as high as we can.

we would still be stronger as long as we get rid of dunne so we would still close the gap on them just be eliminating dunnes own goals and sending offs
