Kolo Toure [Merged]

I thought the Conderations Cup had destroyed the Chiellini myth for good.

Toure has been a fixture in one of the best teams in the Premiership for many years. I can't understand why Arsenal are willing to let him go. However there has been talk of him being unsettled for some time, and rumours that he does not get along with Gallas.

A good move on two counts:

1) Quality defender with Premiership experience who can play right back, and central defence

2) Weakens Arsenal who look like one of the weaker teams in the top 4

Must stop talking like it's a done deal as his brother Yaya Toure said recently that he wouldn't join us

Couldn't agree more Marvin!

How many at left back?

Not sure how many games, I recall him spending a decent stint there early in the season.

Was after him and Gallas had fallen out.

I'd love Lescott and Alves. It would be like the Terry-Carvalho connection.

Lets make this clear right now, Alves is NOTHING like Carvalho. Ignore what that other kid said, he's obviously never watched Alves.

If Toure dose sign I rather trust the judgement of the club, I happen to think that they research each player before committing to any deal

Still everyone is entitled to an opinion

Re: toure agrees city move (merged)

are we talking about toure?

Because if that's what youre saying then it's wrong,he plays at RB sometimes for arsenal but never left-back.

oh i see, so he's only 4th/5th best in his own position and can still play 26 league games some out of position?

I'm not arguing that he's only 4th/5th best in his own position.

How can he fail to improve a squad that finished 9th and let so many goals in?

Quite easily (and we finished 10th and let so many goals in too). If it goes through I hope he is a success, but it's a bit premature to hail this one as missing piece of the puzzle, as we could have as many problems with Toure in the side as we had last season in my view.

Vermaelen not proven in the elp heard good things about him but samaras was a world beater before he moved here! Senderos had a break down couple of seasons ago Djourou and Song are nowhere near toure level! Will give you gallas!

alves always reminds me of dunne in his style... He is a good lad, but I do have some pretty major concerns about his outright defensive ability. It's ridiculous to suggest nothing gets past him, because I've seen him make poor decisions and react too slowly on several occasions, for club and country. Could he develop into a top class premiership stopper? yes. But he's certainly not at that level yet.
