got to say, my biggest, well only beef with this Toure transfer is the fact that when the deal is signed, we would have given Arsenel £41 Million .......

now i know Wenger wont get that much to spend .... but he will get a fair bit .... and if we give HIM and Arsenel's scouting network the chance to spend on players, they will be able to build a very competitive team.

if they got another centre forward to replace Ade, and then signed, for example Acquilani .... they will have a very strong team again .... They could get both these players, possibly a new goal keeper and another defender if they think Vermaleen is not up to full Premiership standard. That would make them dangerous, VERY dangerous.

i think we would be MUCH better off by signing Lescott ....... here is why:

1.) he is left footed naturally, so slots into the Left CB role perfectly.
2.) he is younger and has not suffered any dips in form as of yet in his career.
3.) it will be giving money to Everton, yes, but Moyes would get a lot less to go out and work with and it would not be anywhere near as much of a threat to City giving Moyes £20million as it would givin Arsenel £41million
4.) i know its unlikely, but if that 6+5 rule does come in to play, then he would be very useful

sorry for the ranting boys, but its just an opinion, pick it apart what you will, but i think its very sound, i havent read the 130 + pages of this thread, admittedly, so sorry if this has already been brought up countless times, but does anybody agree?

well there is something in there, but I'm pretty sure we are going to sign them both.

screw Lescott, Moyes holding us ransom... Sign Toure this week and Mexez next week ;) That'll give us a CB pairing as good as any EPL club...

Just heard on the news that a clinic is offering a service for the vertically challenged. For 16k they break your legs and gradually stretch your them to give you as much height as you want. Get Kolo booked in for starters I say!

yeah, i wouldnt mind them both, i know we shouldn't be worried about not getting chumps league football, but it was just a niggle i had in the back of me brain ......

i think you kinda missed the point ... if we did sign Toure it would be giving them a lot of money to go into the market and become more dangerous and rival us much more closely than people think for a 4th spot .... however if we sign Lescott we wouldnt be taking as much of a competitive risk .... they have another 6 CB at arsenel anyway, so they could spend all the dosh on some top quality young talent ..... the point was, giving everton £20million is much less of a risk than giving arsenel £41million :-)

Aye but the manager of Arsehole is Wenger, and he just doesn't spend money! Right enough he's spent a wee bit more than usual on Arshavin and Vermaelen but still he'd never buy a £25m striker and a £20m defender...
He'll end up buying some 17 year old defender for £2.5m from a French 3rd division club and Chamakh/Gignac for striker. At a stretch he might buy Vucinic (which would be a good signing) but far too expensive for his taste. Whatever is left will go to the Usmanovs to service their debt.
Arsenal is probably the best club to give money as they just don't spend it!

didnt one of their board members come out and say that wenger had money to spend this summer? i would have thought them being in the CL was vital to servicing their debt in the long term, instead of putting the club at risk by relying on the fact we will fund them money so they can pay some off early in the short term.

they could use our money to put up a better fight to qualify CL ..... i see your point though ... they are moderately tight to put it mildly when it comes to spending .....

Think some one else mentioned this before but just to state it one more time , chaps dont worry about what Wenger will do with the money just think about us .. we need to strengthen defence with ball playing friendly players.
If we play with a 3 pronged attack we will only have 2 forward playing MF' to pass to from defence and so it needs to be a good one otherwise we are back under pressure..

Thinking from popular team selection for Blackburn away..

----------Given -------------

Richards Ned Toure Bridge ( Distribution from the back has to accurate !)

--- De Jong ( plays short passes david batty style - i.e not forward ! )

Ireland ( box to box ) Barry ( box to box in tandem with Ireland )

Tevez ( hard working chasing giving options) Ade ( Goal hanging) Robinho ( Linking up with Barry and Stevie )

So from the above I conclude if we are pushing up the field we need decent distribution .. cannot afford to just boot it upfield and hope like Dunne & Richards are prone to do .. so Toure is a great addition if it comes off !

I think he said they SHOULD spend, not that they would. Apparently there's a bit of a civil war amongst the Arsenal powers that be.

The ammount of keyboard warriors on here is unbelievable. If you don't believe them thats fine you don't have to agree, to make personal comments is all well from sat behind a keyboard, I bet it would be different face to face.

I imagine that if it were face to face then he wouldn't get picked up on his spelling and grammar as much. What a fun evening down the pub when you have to write everything down. (Sorry, I couldn't resist).
