Thus why from the start i had been banging on about getting a class defender not for cover but to play within the back 4 and fight for there place in there among the central defenders.

we lose kompany and then our defence goes confidence wise because there is nobody good enough or big enough to replace our captain,we may be able to cope in the league but if we lose him for champions league games then our central defenders are no where near good enough.

as LoveCity said pepe would have been perfect :(

Worst case situation for us so early on in the season in my opinion.

I think the game on Sunday will give us a good indication of how our defence will cope for the next couple of weeks, but if I am honest I am not fonfident at all with a Garcia/ Lescott partnership.

One of the worrying situations as well would be Vinny missing the first CL game and the derby, and don't the happen on the same week?

Not confident at all for the next few weeks, without Vinny look half the team with him in it.

Doesn't make him a bad player. He's been at the top of his game for years and would be ideal for us in Europe
