Kompany calls on Premier League clubs to drop ticket prices

we need more people like vincent to speak up and represent the fans. thousands of city fans are being priced out and have been for a few years now. I always hear things like well compared to other clubs city is cheap or my season ticket only costs 30 quid a game....... overall people are being priced out. you can see it at the ground. there are barely any younger people in the ground ( 18-25). Its mainly middle aged men that can afford it now.

I couldn't go to the bournemouth home game and was in a pub near where i live, to watch it. I was amazed by the number of city fans, who used to be season card holders or match goers that were in there. I know so many people as well that have stopped going, some of my own family included . its going to be a really issue in about 5 years as the next generation of fans arent going to football matches.

on his wider point about atmosphere. its obvious. make it cheaper and get the working class back in the ground and the atmosphere improves.

I think there's also a tendency for people to expect some return when they pay a lot. Like there's a quid pro quo. If you don't pay a lot you feel more like putting something of yourself in .

alright my bad. it still sounds like excuses to me. the consequences of making football cheaper.. i mean surely the positives outweigh any possible consequences ( if its more affordable who cares about negatives really) . people can't always attend games and we may end up with a few empty seats, but at least people could afford to go again.
So would you be happy if all tickets were £20 and for a lot of games there were 10000 empty seats?

why would there be 10,000 empty seats ? if it was 20 quid a game ( match day tickets) it would be sold out and there wouldn't be many empty seats - like the burnley game tomorrow. i mentioned the bundesliga and you watch games there - there arent 10,000 empty seats every game are there and its cheap as anything. even in england 20/30 years ago when it was cheaper you didn't suddenly see 10,000 empty seats. i think thats a complete over exaggeration of what would happen.

even if there was I would be happy. as it would mean people could afford to go again. at least people would have the choice and the people of manchester and wider wouldnt be priced out. unless you are really that bothered by empty seats (which we have now) over making it affordable

I have no problem with cheaper prices, all for it. My argument is a price reduction now would just mean those going now will get it cheaper. It will have little effect on atmosphere for that we need first more seats to attract new fans, then making those seats cheaper more £299 s/ c will help as long as they are offered as a singing area to as many new younger fans as possible. Not offered to those in dearer seats first, as the south stand was, because then it will do nothing for atmosphere as new fans would be buying tickets in sporadic parts of the ground.

gave up 4 season tickets last year due to now working overseas, yes full of regret, although see every game on Bein sports.
we have a club now full of innovative ideas, CFG etc, I'm surprised that they can't organise themselves to manage season card holders who cant attend in some way, rather than this ticket exchange malarkey, something like a proportional discount on next years price depending on how often it is used to enter, that way they keep you renewing but also ensure you find someone to use yours if you can't attend. struggled to pass mine on last year when I couldn't attend and that was giving them away.

they should even have a way that season card holders who know will miss a game can release there ticket to the club for that game to ensure it is used to maintain your credit on attendance but also get someone in your seat. fix the price depending on where the seat was. that should avoid gaps due to absent season ticket holders.
Also think that if you get a family of 4 ticket, 2adult + 2 kids, 1 of kids is free up to age of 16. need to protect future. whatever is done, need to ensure that those who can attend match day without a season ticket don't carry the financial burden.

re-Germany as some have posted, get 80,000 in and they spend a lot of money, which will off set any reductions for those not in the prime seats.

Kompany played in the Hamburg game in 2009 and maybe it was the inspiration for his thesis.

I agree, think the new housing development in the area should take care of any potential expansion of the stadium re-numbers
