Keeping Denayer would have been incredibly stupid once the sale of Demichelis to Argentina fell through. Why would Denayer want to hang around as 5th choice CB when he could play every week at a Champions League club? Why would we want him sitting in the stands or playing in the u21's most weeks?
I would say he is at least a week to ten days away from a return. Bad and all as things are he just has to be eased back slowly. This offers the best chance of having him for the rest of the season. If he breaks down again then its curtains for the rest of the season, Should he remain on the sick list for the remainder of the season but makes a return in France serious questions need to be asked. Infact imo a good case could be made for letting both VK and DS go away for a few months try to sort out their injury issues and report back on July 1st next.I thought this thread was about Kompany being fit?
