Kompany Returns from Injury

Is he training or not this week? He was involved last week.

Why didn't we try Sagna in the back 4 in his absence. I think we did it once.

Sagna played centre half at Villa , Villa hardly got a sniff and we kept a clean sheet , so Pellers dropped him for the next game , and i thought Alan ball was a football genius

if we can consistently play , sagna , vinny , otto ,clichy as a back 4 until the end of the season and MP plays 3 mobile, hard working midfield players like dinho , fernando and delph then we will see a definite upturn in our results , it will not be as entertaining , but we will grind out a few much needed results , to keep our season alive. Very much doubt MP will play this formation , because he has proved himself tactically inept , with his belief that we play our own game and let the opposition worry about us ,that might work for Barca and their galacticos , but not for our injury ravaged squad

There are a few of us if we had one wish granted it would be this.

Don't hold your breath.

If he's fit he has to start against Spurs, he can then recover until a 15 min cameo in Kiev before the dippers game.

The big one we have to get him to fit for is the cup final. We've seen what Liverpool can do to our defence.

Sagna and Otamendi Vs Spurs
Kompany first half against Chelsea
Sagna And Otamendi against Kiev

The problem with Sagna at centre half is that it's VERY risky to have him and Zab both on the pitch. If one gets injured, do you want a 31 year old Zab playing 25 games on the bounce from here to May? He'd be burned out by the end of March, and we have no youngster that can step up at RB.

This is where the frustration with Demichellis lies. John Terry was a monster last season and he's NEVER had pace. Never. So why did he look good? Chelsea sat deep, didn't play too high a line and had proper midfield cover with Matic. So when Pelle decides to play a high line, put Demi with a reckless Otamendi and only Fernandinho defending (sometimes) of course the defece is going to look terrible.

That's one of the dumbest arguments I've ever seen on here sorry.

"You can't play Sagna and Zaba together because if one gets injured the other had to play every game"

No shit! What do you think will happen if Sagna is injured while Zabaleta is on the bench? Zabaleta will play every game.

The only difference would be bringing on Demichelis as a sub instead of bringing on Zabaleta.

We'll know this time tomorrow of course but I'm expecting the same news as last week, ie not ready yet. I reckon we're going to keep him wrapped up until Kiev

I sincerely hope he's had plenty of match practice behind closed doors including how to control underhit or overhit passes from his defensive partners.

and we don't have to worry about Maffeo now he's been sent out on loan.

Rotating the full backs is one of the few assets we have at the moment when the fixture list is very busy. I'd have played Sagna and Zabaleta together or tried it out, but if we did that it would mean that the right back would have to play every game, and full back is an exhausting position. They have to sprint up and down which is a lot more demanding than jogging the same distance in midfield.
