Pep still sees Vinny as an option in big games eg Liverpool. Obviously his fitness will stop him playing but Vinny was immense in that Liverpool game and can still contribute albeit on a ad hoc basis when he is fitStones, Laporte, Otamendi, Kompany, Garcia and Mangala are the centre-backs we currently have on the books. I thought the most interesting part of Sam Lee's article (assuming it was true, and he's usually reliable) was the bit that City are desperate to keep him in some form or another. The club obviously value Vincent Kompany the person as much as we do.

Good, he should stick around as long as possible, then move into punditry.

He'd be very good at punditry wouldn't he? But whether he wants to is another matter. I'm not sure he'll ever be City manager, but I can see him being City's CEO.
