Kompany to sign one year contract ... on reduced salary ?

I do. We ain't Dippers! We recognise the person and not the commodity.
Your missing the point, with respect .we actually would like to be,not the modern age dippers, but certainly the dominant dips of the 70s 80s,which meant veteran performers showing early signs of decline were replaced, without sentimental thoughts by younger quality signings.
City ..arguably..should have replaced Lee Buzzeretc faster than they did.Liverpool didnt hang about when they were at the top....and remained so for decades.
None of this of course detracts from the brilliant career of VK,and perhaps City have a coaching role lined up for him..which is great.....but Vinny himself, who knows his body better than anybody..is aware of the value of a " commodity' given that he started his own fancy car business a few years ago...giving him somat to fall back on when the strain of the premier league becomes too much for him..on a regular basis..which i believe it is now.

I wouldn't be surprised if our succession plan for when Pep leaves will be Arteta to take over from Pep with Vinny as his number 2. I can only see us following the Barca model moving forwards and that means employing from within. I hope Zabba gets a role as well.

More chance of the Mangler getting a second chance than us signing this divvy, no offence.

LOL - Lascelles not the best offensively I’ll agree but English, 25 I think, wouldn’t cost a fortune and probably happy to be a squad player. Even we can’t have world class overseas players doubled up in every position.

Vinny is a competitor but he will be the first to say Pep is doing the right thing if we call it a day with him at seasons end.

We have treated him well throughout his career as we have all players sometimes to the our detriment as we haven't turned over enough in enough positions to remain competitive year on year despite having the best Chumps League record in terms of qualification of any side since 2012.

I thought more of you might see him as manager material.
Impossible to tell what his tactical knowledge and application is. He’s a good leader, but Roy Keane was a good leader and he’s a terrible coach
