There was a poster who's name I cant recall, a student I believe who help set up that blue something campaign last year who completely slated Vincent Kompany. I've started typing on this thread 2 times and deleted for fear of giving the OP attention, but Im going to give my 2 pence worth.

Vincent Kompany Is a very good footballer who does the simple things very well. Excluding the new additions to the defense this year, VK was the best defender at the club last year. I will go blue in the face if someone told me any different
 
He has a lot of heart and is a very good player for sure, but I do think he's overrated by some on here. And yeah, I have seen him play pretty much every game for us before some tosser decides I haven't, just because I don't think he's the best CB in the world EVER.

Technically he isn't the best (passing not good enough to be a top level DM, positioning + concentration issues at CB).

At the same time, he's still only 24 and I think he has the potential to get better. I certaintly wouldn't consider letting him go as I feel he has a big part to play in the future of the club.

It's an important season for him; but the question is, will he play much? I'm not sure; I suspect Mancini might go with Toure/Lescott if fit (or maybe even a new CB if we sign one, who knows) at the back and the DM positions are pretty well covered now.

But as always in Bobby we trust. Hope he has a good season though.
