Kompany

Painting With A Broad Stroke

Is lazy and sinister.

One of the major issues I have with football and sports in general is how folks are ever so keen on labelling a sportsperson with a particular sterotype, trait or assesment based on a particular incident or performance in a given period of time. For example, Gareth Bale is now a diver because he went down once or twice or micheal vick is not skilled at throwing the football because he is the quickest quaterback in the game.

We as mancity fans should not fall into the trap of labelling Vincent Kompany's season based on the first few games. Admittedly, he was not up to standards and that was intricately highlighted by every body, not least his best friend- Alan Hansen.

There kould be a number of reasons for his poor form at the time but the bottom line is that he recovered and was back to his best in no time. Kompany has been so good over the last 2 months that i am actually konsidering him as the 2nd best player in our squad after yaya and one of the best players in the premier league.( Top 5) He has been komposed, entertaining, dominant, technically astute and a driving force. Hell, hes made nastasic look better. Sometimes, I wonder that it is his high komfort and konfidence that kompels him to make extravagant ( some might say risky) tackles to showcase his wide spectrum of defending skills.

So lets not get it twisted, Vincent Kompany has been immense this season , one of our best players, despite his slow start and we will certainly ( kertainly is a bit odd) miss his driving force from the back- this is something no body has pointed out about the game on tuesday. Kompany is a player that takes the ball foward from the back to drive and lead the team into attack. This kreates a momentum from the back that permeates our midfield and offense increasing the pace at which we attack. This driving force and leadership from the back was missed and certainly will be missed for the coming games.

Notwithstanding, surely, we still have more than enough the fight through and win the games we play without Kompany.

So I implore you all to not paint kompanys season with a broad stroke of the start of the season lest we undermine or mitigate the importance of his presence in the final stretch.

Well articulated I must say.

Three soft tissue injuries and missing a large chunk of pre season make it hard to get back on track ASAP.

We are measuring him by his lofty standards of most of last season injury free and a full pre season which he had.

Kompany doesn't make excuses for his injuries either.

He is our best leader and most important player over the past two seasons.

He is a consummate professional off the field as well.

He has a gorgeous wife but you will hear or see little of her.

We are lucky to have him and lucky to have him on such a long contract.

Even Mario looked up to him and that is saying something.

He would be centre back or slot into central midfield in any side in Europe.

I wish we had one or two more with his drive , his temperment , his mental strength etc.

If Wenger could get him he would break the bank to do so and whatever you think of Wenger he is the best judge of a footballer going around in the premiership by a mile and always has been since he joined Arsenal.

Nastasic has been great this season and Lescott done little wrong. We shouldn't have too much trouble tomorrow. Come on guys, big performance!

My guess is RM will stick with Garcia in central defence but we shall see.

He may rest Lescott or start Nasty on the bench.

I like Milner , Barry , Silva and Nasri ala last time we played Liverpool at home in the league and I think he may stick with that formation.

Mancini doesn't even like to start with two right-footed CBs so imagine that with two left-footed players.

I'm quite surprised at how many people are so worried about this news. I'm indifferent towards it as I've viewed him as a bit of a liability at times this season; he's developed this idea that he needs to try and get in front of the attacker and win the ball back as soon as possible, even if it means risking getting turned and giving us a problem, which has happened a few times. I'm looking forward to seeing how Lescott and Nastasic perform together. In my opinion their form has been better than Kompany's this season.

Are you taking the piss ?????

As for what celf said about Kompany not being in top form he's spot on . It was only just over a month ago in an interview Kompany admitted he's not been up to his own high standards. I don't blame Kompany in anyway shape or form the mans a complete professional and a total credit to the club its just been one of those things. As in he's been unlucky with a couple of injuries and unlucky with the fact that the rest of the defense has had so many injuries and things have chopped and changed so much. Having said all that I'd still rather have an average Kompany in defense than any other bleeder.
