Painting With A Broad Stroke
Is lazy and sinister.
One of the major issues I have with football and sports in general is how folks are ever so keen on labelling a sportsperson with a particular sterotype, trait or assesment based on a particular incident or performance in a given period of time. For example, Gareth Bale is now a diver because he went down once or twice or micheal vick is not skilled at throwing the football because he is the quickest quaterback in the game.
We as mancity fans should not fall into the trap of labelling Vincent Kompany's season based on the first few games. Admittedly, he was not up to standards and that was intricately highlighted by every body, not least his best friend- Alan Hansen.
There kould be a number of reasons for his poor form at the time but the bottom line is that he recovered and was back to his best in no time. Kompany has been so good over the last 2 months that i am actually konsidering him as the 2nd best player in our squad after yaya and one of the best players in the premier league.( Top 5) He has been komposed, entertaining, dominant, technically astute and a driving force. Hell, hes made nastasic look better. Sometimes, I wonder that it is his high komfort and konfidence that kompels him to make extravagant ( some might say risky) tackles to showcase his wide spectrum of defending skills.
So lets not get it twisted, Vincent Kompany has been immense this season , one of our best players, despite his slow start and we will certainly ( kertainly is a bit odd) miss his driving force from the back- this is something no body has pointed out about the game on tuesday. Kompany is a player that takes the ball foward from the back to drive and lead the team into attack. This kreates a momentum from the back that permeates our midfield and offense increasing the pace at which we attack. This driving force and leadership from the back was missed and certainly will be missed for the coming games.
Notwithstanding, surely, we still have more than enough the fight through and win the games we play without Kompany.
So I implore you all to not paint kompanys season with a broad stroke of the start of the season lest we undermine or mitigate the importance of his presence in the final stretch.
