Walker's game is all about his pace and looking at him recently he has lost half a yard hopefully this is just fatigue , Danilo is the better option on current form but Walker will eventually regain his place he is still one of the best right backs in europe when fully fit , and when the chips are down and we are scrapping for a result then Walker gets my vote over Danilo because Walker is a player who gets stuck in regardless and is rarely second best to any winger.

Good post mate, but I think you're being unfair on him in the bit I bolded. He actually has very good positioning and reading of the game for a right back. And in general he's got great technical ability. You don't play for City just because you're a good athlete.

Except he doesnt have great technical ability. Its glaringly obvious because he plays for City. I'm not sure how anybody could possibly watch him every week and think otherwise.

He's tackling ability is excellent. There's technique to that. He's technically great at shielding the ball. He's technically excellent at hitting cross field passes.

I know what you mean by the way, on the off-chance I'm due a pedantic reply.

If we are fortunate enough to get to the last 8 of the CL, then we’ll need to see more in the attacking third from whoever is played at fullback. It’s all very well being able to defend, but they have to offer support and a genuine threat in and around the opposition box, too. If that doesn’t happen, then the wingers face a tougher task. Technique is more than about touch and control, it’s also about passing to the player so that it arrives at his preferred foot or ahead of him so that the rhythm of our play does not slow. Those are aspects that Walker needs to improve, but he is not alone in that regard, as Kompany, Otamendi, and Delph are all frequently off target.

If Mendy comes back, whoever is on the right will be a lot more conservative to provide cover for him bombing up the field, just like Delph stays back when Walker/Danilo get forward on the right.

Agree , but his pace is his main asset , he does make mistakes but has the pace to rectify most situations , last year he was the best right back in europe and we need that player back asap

One thing Walker has done considerably less of this season, to date, is to force the opposition winger to track him back deep into the other half. He did this last season to great effect, wearing down his opponent, but for some reason (tiredness, injury, instruction?) he appears less prone to do so now.

Put a fork in this ****, cos he is done. What footballer gets to use an excuse of fucking tired for two thirds of a fucking season? Absolute dogshit. Can’t defend, can’t attack, just stands on Stones toes for 90 mins and plays 5 yard, hospital passes to his teammates. Fucking awful.

At least Danilo has had a couple of good games since he came back from injury. Walker hasn't had a good game all season and he's the one of the two that I'd get rid of in the summer if anyone would take him.

Just isn’t good enough. But we won’t be able to get rid without taking a massive loss.

Right sided centre half passes the ball to him, looks around obviously can't use his left foot for a simple pass so just gives it back.

Rinse and repeat.

Dreadful once fucking again. Fucks up the offside line on the first goal, and offers zero in attack

He is the weakest link in the current eleven, but he should have had much more rotation this season with Danilo. Alas, injuries to Danilo and the complacency of the club not to have signed a proper left-back last summer means he has had to soldier on, and I wouldn't expect any upswing in performances from hereon in.

One of those players that cant stay focused for sustained period, ie thinking after good form he is better than he actually is. For this reason, no time for him. Mendy I think sadly is one of those players too but he never plays. Pique at Barca too for another example.

Both are full back positions are poor. A major problem we need to sort. Compared to Liverpool’s two, especially Robertson, who are brilliant.
