Kyle Walker joins Burnley (pg5)

I’d argue he was one of the most important signings during the pep era. He was like a cheat code at times and would single handily stop counter attacks or mark the oppositions best player out the game. Could say we haven’t replaced him and it shows.

Off the pitch I won’t comment. Best to concentrate on the positives!

A huge part of our drop off over the past twelve months. Pace and positioning and intelligence meant there were huge areas of the pitch you could essentially cover with just him.

Done swiftly. Good luck to him, an unbelievably important player for our success. The team didnt function without him. Greatest right back this league has ever seen and thats how I'll remember him and not the awful last year.

will be weird seeing him lineup against us but I'll be fancying doku to skin him.

Good luck Kyle, great servant.

Hopefully first of many out of the door, let’s see how good Viana and Txiki are over the next few weeks.

Wish him well but those who are saying best right back are mistaken. Without his pace he would have been average, bailed himself (and others) out of the shit so many times with the afterburners, and with that became indispensable to us because of the way we play, but definitely suspect when it came to decision making and positional play.

I'm going against the consensus here and don't think he'll be a good signing for Burnley......
But he did have pace

17 trophies in 319 appearances - thats what about the equivalent of a trophy every 20 games? Must have been so glad to have joined us. He did well and I can only wish him good luck for the future

It wasn’t just pace was it. He wouldn’t be in a pep side if it was just pace. I think you’re seriously underrating how good walker was. We desperately miss prime walker now
With the high line we play he was the perfect player for Pep because of his speed. Once that was gone he was no longer effective, you only have to look at the "ffs walker" posts over the last season in the matchday thread and post match threads to see that. Also look at the clamour for the selection of Khush because of his speed.

His brain farts and poor positional play have often been highlighted on BM, those are not the hallmarks of the best full back in the premier league.

Ask yourself would you pick Walker in a back line which played a low block and had a rigid defensive structure? I wouldn't

Well pick the next 5 right backs who you think were the best then take their best attribute out of their game and see if they’re still the best right back
