Kyle Walker

I'm happy we have weakened a rival as well
Congrats blues. Spurs supporter here (not a WUM, if you check my short post history). You got the guy Pep wanted...and considering your dearth of FB options, you actually needed. Circa 50 million is probably a fair price considering the crazy market. It is said to see Kyle leave as he has been a great servant to the club for 9 years. I won't say he is Zabaleta-like to us but you can understand what it is like to lose a long-serving, high-performer. From all accounts Kyle is approachable and a good team guy. Don't really know what the breakdown was between Poch and him but it was clear he was marked to go from about late March.

As for his play I am not sure he truly fits into a Pep-style due to technical deficiencies but he will shut down the right side. He is a physical beast and no one on your team will play harder. I don't think he played hard for us because of his love of the badge. I think he did it because he is an honest professional. So it will be to your benefit. And on the plus side his fouls in the box are invisible to the naked eye ;). Ok, that last bit was a little wummy but it was in the past and we can laugh about it now.

Look forward to watching your team again this year. As I've stated previously I love Pep-ball and have a soft spot for sky blue...or at least I did until Zaba left and that little wizard showed us that travesty of a haircut. Should be 2 more cracking games this year. Here's to penalty shouts going the 'right' way 3 years running.

Fee is high but not as high as I was dreading. Will be a huge improvement to the side.

Correct me if I am wrong but the reason we have been in for Walker rather than say Semedo or Pereira(sp?) is because of the limited foreign places within the squad? With so few English player being good enough for us, the club probably feel overpaying for one that is good is worth it in regards to the overall squad makeup.

Tell is Why you really mad :)

Agree he is better than Danny Rose too. But I'll be angry if Slurs goes and get Perreira for half that price.

Que?

Telling you why I'm "really mad" would take dozens of psychological reports and the language and jargon they use is quite confusing so I'll post that in the "off topic" section (maybe) ;)

PS - I couldn't care less what Spurs do TBH, we need home grown, they don't. Apples vs Kiwi Fruit :D

True.

50 million's mental regardless of the market. He's probably better than what we had but I still don't think he's a great defender. He's good going forward but defensively, nothing to write home about.

"Probably better than what we had" So you're not sure Walker is better than a Zaba who was running in treacle, A Sagna who got a nose bleed if he crossed the half way line or fucking Navas?

We've signed a pretty good right back for stupid money. The main thing is we now have a pretty good right back and hes homegrown

It's a very good signing overall, and we shouldn't worry about the fee, as that is never written on any trophies.
Always preferred Rose as a FB, but he has had a serious injury and who knows whether he comes back the same.
Walker is purpose built for the Premier league, but I think Pep would have played Alves in the CL (or whoever else we get to come in).
English, fast, strong, phenomenal engine (critical for a Per FB) likes to go forward
Weakens a rival (don't listen to the Spuds fans, Walker is twice the FB Trippier is, but fell out with Poch when he said he wanted a move around Easter)

Yes please ..

Next ..

Granted, he's better than what we had/have, no "probably" about it. My bad. But I still far from enamour with his defending ability.

Ask any Spurs fan who they would rather lose and the answer will be Walker. Rose is phenomenal in his position.

Rose is fucked.

Out since January, and they've just done "exploratory" knee surgery 6 months later to work out why he's not recovering.

If I were a Spurs fan I'd be more concerned about whether he's going to play this side of christmas, and what state he'll be in.

Are you living in 2013?

Since Pochettino arrived his defending has been brilliant. You don't get the best defence in the country when 1/4 of it can't defend, and Walkers improved a lot in his positional game, to the point where his speed is now an added bonus, not the thing bailing him out.

He's also very, very good 1v1 and if you look back to goals like Lukaku's in the 1-1, Walker would have never let him past the halfway line.

This is just the age we now live in. £50m players are now a regular thing. 10 years ago we'd be saying the same thing about a £30 player. It's just the way it goes when more and more money enters the system.
