spurs doing ok with niether of them so are they all that
I think Pochettino's system is making them look better than they actually are. Does anyone genuinely think Walker, Rose, Alli or Kane are world class like the English media suggest they are? None of them have proved it in Europe or at international level. Having said that, Walker and Rose would probably both still be upgrades on our current options at fullback so I'm not completely against the idea.

Kyle Walker wants to leave Tottenham with Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona interested in signing him. [Independent]

Walker is the likeliest Spurs first-teamer to be sold this summer and would cost at least £35m, if not closer to £50m. [Independent]

I'd rather us overpay for hardworking English technical talent that will give the dressing room a backbone than fly by night mard arses who have nothing but technical ability and know nothing of what makes the PL what it is.

I'd throw £100m on the table for Ali and see what Levy makes of that- because if we don't then United or Chelsea will do just that either this season or the next.

For English technical talent that will give the dressing room a backbone, I'd rather go for Eric Dier than Alli. Dier plays in a position we're looking to fill. I'd throw in 150m to see if I could get Walker (or Trippier), Rose and Eric Dier and then buy Pickford, and pair Virgil van Dijk with Stones. That'll all cost 220-230m right there, all English except Virgil van Dijk but he's a proven Premier League defender.

Then we could bring Kieran Tierney for another 15-20m, and have Kieran and Maffeo as back ups for Walker and Rose, Kompany and Otamendi as other two central defenders, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Yaya, De Bruyne, Silva, Garcia and Brahim Diaz as other midfielders, and we have Kolarov too.

If we can sell all of Mangala, Bony, Nasri, Hart and maybe Bravo, then we'll have additional money to spend for an offensive/creative player maybe.

And what will happen to Iheanacho?

I always bemoan anyone who bemoans how much we pay for someone because it's not anyone but the owner's money.

However... Walker's dross and not worth anywhere near that potential £50m.

I couldn't agree more mate TBH , the team lacks a backbone , Peps said it himself - you need a strong element of homegrown / English players in the side , he had it at Barca and he had it at Bayern , United spent decades hoovering up the best English talent - it's our turn before they get a foothold and do it again.

There's understatement and then there's this.
I'm not going to go overboard on praise because in my opinion both players have only been playing at a consistently high level for the last couple of seasons. Before their recent rise not many City fans would want either player. If they can maintain their current form then yes they would be a significant improvement but if they are in a purple patch, playing under a very talented coach, in a system that allows them to flourish then we could possibly do better.

Dier doesn't have the passing ability to play defensive midfielder for Pep. Pochettino doesn't use him there any more unless Dembele or Wanyama are injured. He plays only as a CB when they're playing 3 at the back.

Oriel Romeu would probably be a better and cheaper option in midfield, and I believe he's HG because of his time at Chelsea.

Avoid these two like the plague, would cost a fortune and they wouldn't be allowed to foul at will like they do at Spurs

another worry with walker si that his own manager has questioned his fitness/ability to play two games in a week...supposedly why walker has fallen out with him and why he maybe open to a transfer....

all walker has really in his favour is his athleticism......if that goes he is pretty bang average
