Kyle Walker

I don't think his defending has ever been brilliant and he's showing that he still has that lapse in concentration that can punish you.

I agree re all his other attributes and he'll definitely improve us. However, there's no point in overrating the guy. His speed basically saves him in the majority of situations.

At the end of the day he's 1/4 of the best defence in the league by a mile. If we get him, we know his defending is good enough to not be a weakness in that Spurs defence.

I'm not judging him on one match, I've seen him play loads of times. He's okayish defensively but very decent going forward, that is my general opinion of him. I suspect that is probably what we want in our full backs anyway. I think Rose is the better of the two but I doubt Rose is available so I assume we will get Walker who will be adequate and certainly an improvement on what we have at right back and we will need to find a left back elsewhere.

Out of curiosity who would you say would be an "excellent" addition at r/b ?

Absolutely no idea. Don't watch enough football outside of England to really have an opinion and in the Prem they seem to be either good defensively or good going forward but I can't think of any who are the complete package. Bellerin and Walker are probably just about the best two in the league I think. I think this is going to go through and it will be a big upgrade on what we have but I do think the defensive side of his game is lacking. I'd much rather have Bellerin, I think he could end up being the complete package but I doubt that is a doable deal.

Just seems incredibly harsh to describe signing arguably the league's best r/b as "adequate". I see the he can't defend narrative is going to be difficult to shake too. As Domalino says though he's been a stalwart in the league's best defence for a while. So I reckon he can defend just fine.

£50m for Kyle Walker.... and hes 27 soon. It was never going to be easy dealing with Levy. Surely we can find solution to RB for less than £50m?

Having 2 right backs out of contract also puts City in horrible negotiation position.

I think that defensive record is more down to the two Belgian centre halves and Wanyama/Dier in reality though

And here I though Levy was going to say he was worth 20 million. Entirely shocked he would say 50 million. Shocked!
