Kyle Walker

Brilliant news.

The only thing I'm scared of is the piss-taking from fans of other teams and the media about being ripped off! I honestly don't know how I coped with the banter surrounding the Stones transfer, I don't think my heart could take it again!

They're usually so fair handed with us but with this I think they won't play nice.
Try being a city fan in Glasgow. Never been called a glory Hunter so much in my life or had to do so many city questions just to get told "ya YouTube is great for history lessons"

Brilliant signing. Fast, aggressive and a much better passer than I had previously thought. He's a bit of a job but we need that

Personally I think this is crap. We gave in too easily. But despite the 50mil price tag, this is also crap for spurs. Rival strengthened for only maybe 15mil more than his real market value. Team In there position really should not be strengthening rivals. Hahaha

Don't know why we're comparing them in the first place given one is a fullback and the other is a striker but seeing as we are, we can't use the lowest figure for walker and the highest figure with add on's for Lukaku to make it sound better. The fee going around is £55 million + add on's and seeing as we don't know how much the add on's are worth we can only compare it to the £75 million base figure for Lukaku.

as for what we're getting, I have no issues with most of them but 3 of those points are very questionable. Firstly, I wouldn't class him as young seeing as he's 27 and fullbacks tend to drop off quite early, particularly ones that rely so heavily on pace as walker does.

Secondly, when has he ever played DM? there's nothing in his game that suggests he could play there either, lacks the technical skill, positional sense, brains and composure to play there and under utilises his main asset which is his pace. I'll put money on him never ever playing in that position for us.

And the final point, does he really weaken them that much? If he did they simply wouldn't sell him. They obviously prefer Trippier (as do i personally) and feel he's the better bet going forward, so losing a replacement right back isn't weakening the squad all that much, particularly when you're getting £55 million + for him in a time when money might be tight for them with the new stadium to pay for.
Where are you getting £55m+ from? Its £50m which could go to £53m with addons by most reports. It still doesn't make me feel better about the price we paid or affect the the point you were making though.

Having said that Trippier I wouldn't want over Walker personally he may be younger(he's about as technical as Walker maybe but not moreso) but that game for England against France he seemed to bottle it when the going got tough and lost all composure(messed everyone else up by backing off way too much when anyone ran at him) the mental side of the game is something that you never know if a player can attain or not. Lets see how he does when the pressure's all on him at Tottenham, it could well weaken them if he has a dip and can't recover form.

Pep does not have unique criteria for fullbacks as for keepers and center backs. He likes only sweeper-keepers and ball-playing center backs but he favors both inverted technical fullbacks to cmf and walker type fullbacks which have pace run join attack during 90 minutes and deliver assists to attacking players so walker signing is very good signing.

Spurs fans on the radio are hilarious

"We didn't want him"
"Trippier is miles better"
"He's past his best"
"He can't cross"
"We've took City to the cleaners"

I, for one, will say that you have come to an incorrect assessment. Most fans of most teams will be sad to see a long-term player leave (9 years). But gutted we are not. Fair play to him. Let's not kid ourselves though he moved for money which is to be expected at his age. Spurs don't pay crazy wages like the other members of the top 6 because our revenue is at least 100 million less than the others. FFP is a thing you know and we are not bankrolled by an oligarch, sheik, or debt.

We are a well run club with more in common with the lower 14 clubs in the league than the other 5. But we are competitive within our means and will remain so. Kyle will be replaced by a player with more potential and for less than half the price. Not Trips as he is not as good as Walker. This will enable us to get 2 players in, cover the loss of Walker, and maintain a 0 net spend. However, I do believe there are many that would have preferred Spurs not 'strengthening' City. And that is where you will find the most consternation.

No I have come to an incorrect assessment from your perspective. Aside from being a long term player he is also at his peak and arguably the best right back in the premier league, which brings me nicely onto your next point, money. Alves moved for money, understandable as he has won everything in the game and is 34 years of age. Walker has seen the best squad assembled at Spurs for years, give it everything and then some and still fall short. He can see we are rebuilding a top squad and have one of the best managers in the world in place so he wants to be part of it. Modern footballers at the top level are multi millionaires at a young age so money isn't a massive motivation for some. I will not get drawn into the old ' Bankrolled by a sheikh' argument, I am sure others may.

When you start losing your best players to a rival it is a slippery slope. Other players will be concerned and a little envious of Walker, you better hope the replacements work out well.

£50m? That'll be £25m-worth of goal-ending streaks down the wing (watch the offsides, Kyle, now the linos have had their eyes tested!) and £25m of goal-stopping defending! All before Christmas, so the rest of the season will be free! We've robbed yer, Levy! Yer've been mugged walking down Tottenham High Street!

"They prefer Trippier"

Played 10 games a season over the last two. Most after Walker had fallen out with Poch. And I dare say most of the others when Walker was injured or rested.
Well said. Walker is a quality rb, proven in the prem and for a home grown player at a rival team...we were always going to have to pay a big fee for him. Great signing! He will be worth it.

Any chance he's got an account? Because he might be able to state something more than the obvious.

Where do you think that "£15m" would have gone? Who do you think it will stop us from signing? Do you think Txiki and the others haven't considered this? Do you not think that weighing up the possible alternatives could be a big reason why this has been a slow moving transfer?

You're not wrong but you could do with considering a few things before complaining that we've not been as frugal as you would like.

Show me where I have ever complained about a fee we have paid. Ever.

Man City ........ Aye but are ye a pope or a prod City fan ?
Neither. Do like to go and watch St mirren as theyre a local team and dont get to go back to Manchester that often. Supported city at park head though.

Orange bastards are the worst though, almost bad as the scum

His stat
I compare him with another players from top clubs
All I can tell is he is a really top defence. Top tackles, Top in the air. He might not good to cross but He's pretty good to pass, to create changes. His key passes is top and with
57.5% for Long ball is still good for right back I think this is what Pep wants.
Right back that knows how to pass like midfielder
Sorry for my English

All this stuff about Trippier being better looks complete balls whenever I've seen him. I've looked out fro him a bit since he went to Burnley and wondered if he would be good enough for us to buy back but to me he looks indifferent defensively and not particularly quick. What he has got is a very good cross but without a target man it would be a lot less useful for us.
