Kyle Walker

You could also argue that keeping players who don’t have the drive anymore is detrimental.

Pep needs to change players to keep the message fresh. It only turns to shit if we buy players who don’t perform.

I’m not arguing we should keep him, certainly not against his will, so that would be a weird argument to make.

I said we’ll miss him more than people think.

Been mulling this since the news started coming out. Makes more sense the more I think about it.
New challenge makes sense.
Pep changing things up, 3 at back, numerous times with 4 CB’s across the back, all about ball rentention.
Pep’s comments about Walker not having the right positional sense to play the role Rico (since Stones) played.
Didn’t start CL Final.

An outstanding signing but I think perhaps Walker sees what Pep is moving to, Walker prob has a couple of years left max at the absolute top level and wants out.

All good.

I think people expecting 25m or 30m on here are going to be disappointed with the fee.
He is a 33 year old right back. I'd be surprised if it made double figures.

That goes without saying. Kyle is like our safety net against the counter. I will miss him but time is against us. He will eventually fade and we don’t want to be scrambling about for his replacement.

I can’t begrudge him a move to Munich considering what he has done for us. City will be planning for the next 5 seasons. As we have seen with Silva, Sergio, Komps, Fernandinho etc. No player is irreplaceable but no player is the same either. Rodri is the perfect example of how the team evolved from Fernandinho.

We sit at the top of football. Now is the time to change and keep evolving imo. He will be missed but we also should be excited about what’s next.

id rather keep him for a year than get 10mio euros but after this season and what he did for the club over the years we will let him go if he is looking for a new challenge.

Not to mention we don’t know if he is being replaced with an equally athletic, pacey player (Walker was never the best defender), which are much more common than players like Ake or Dias.
I am not sure what you mean by Walker was never the best defender.
Maldini Company and a few others may have been better but I think he has turned himself into an outstanding defender. When he is playing there are very few threatening attacks coming down the right, he is excellent 1v1 He clears a lot of balls from the other side. Defensively I think he is now outstanding what he is less good at is quick use of the ball and productive use of the ball when he uses is speed on overlaps.
Coman was giving us real problems when Walker wasn't playing ditto Vinicius last year in the semis.
