I feel for those who don't appreciate what it is/was to be a City fan. It's so much more than winning/losing but that seems to be lost on many these days.
Whatever City game I've been to, and I've been to over a thousand, my first thought, always, as the teams kicked off was this: I want us to win. Always. Anything and everything else was/is/will be a bonus. Give me winning over anything else. Anything.

If Mbappe turns down Madrid for the 'lure of Guardiola' he will a) need certifying and b) be at Madrid in 2-3 years anyway

Whilst appreciating the depth of emotion in your well intentioned sentiment, things have changed beyond any comprehension and I for one have embraced this complete sea change in the fortunes, culture and expectations of my club, Manchester City FC.

We stood behind the shop of the master butcher for decades waiting for scraps from his cutting board. I don't miss that and never will.

We are now longer window shopping in the basement at Kendalls looking as suits we cant afford ( I know there are no windows in the basement...)

City are sat at the top table and the name of the game is winning titles.

Thanks mate

Amen to that.

we're not bad at keeping players and keeping them off the lure of Madrid for long times though. Maybe even longer than we should :P

They won zero points in La Liga by some City player. Them or anyone else by anyone we didn't want to sell.

We're not stepping stone to any fucker anymore.

Winning is great, I started going in the mid eighties as a 7 year old and spent my first three decades seeing us go from one shite season to another whilst utd won the lot. It shaped me as a blue and I'm grateful I went through those times as it means I appreciate the good times even more.
I'm just not a win at all costs type of guy though.

Fair enough, I get that. I'd happily watch us win 1-0 in every single game for the rest of my life. All those fucking defeats have taken their toll!

Except us.
Hence 'pretty much every'. And our stadium expansion was paid for direct from Abu Dhabi, nothing to do with our profit or turnover, so effectively the same deal. We don't have to pay it back, but Madrid's turnover is a lot higher, so in terms of spending power of planes, little in it but they haven't already spent £200m
