That's the area that needs sorting the most, no arguing with that sorry. Read my edit compare our defense especially in the fullback positions to even the top 6 of the prem(younger, pacier, more modern attacking fullbacks than the likes of Clichy and Sagna who try but are not comfortable doing whats being asked of them it's not in their nature) and then think how short compared to the best in Europe(where we want to be) even they are. We are far behind in that area and it will add so much to our game you'll be surprised.

It really does,we are sorted offensively,if sergio does leave we won't be replacing him with an 18yr old from the french league,you need experienced cool heads when the going gets tough and kids are not at all consistent so having an attack force of kids is a crazy idea
We NEED to sort out the CB and both FB'S and maybe a new keeper that is all we need and more than enough to handle in preseason to get them to gel

With different instructions based on tactics and the type of players they are. One is a striker playing as an inverted winger. The other is a classic winger playing as a classic winger.
 
I'm not arguing that we need to sort the defence, we absolutely do. It just doesn't need to be the only area we strengthen

The whole point is that we don't need any more attackers,people are getting carried away about this kid as he is supposed to be the next big thing,how has that worked out for whatshisname at the swamp,he was the next big thing from france

I was thinking about this when we played Spurs, compared to most of the top 6 they all seem to have the modern attacking fullbacks, Zaba and Kolarov are somewhat attack minded but they are ageing now(if Pep got them when they were younger he could have turned them into what we need) Sagna and Clichy are more traditional fullbacks who aren't as comfortable in attack, it's been long overdue. If we strengthen where we need to this summer and he's available next summer and still doing the business and nobody else has stolen the limelight we can start getting serious about it.

I think we will get mbappe pep bid for him last summer proves we have been keen on him for a while and put yourself in mbappe shoes imagine pep telling you he wants you to replace Bony

Lets just sort the defense first and we don't know what's happening in midfield, there might not be enough left over for whatever price it would take to pry him away(if they don't want to sell they don't have to either even if he wants to go). Gundogan will be back and he was meant to be playing in Fernandinho's and Yaya's position but he seemed to be giving so much more further up the pitch, rotating him with Silva or KDB would be very handy if he could do that. Yaya, Fernando and Delph might be moved on so we'd need to strengthen there much more than we would up front, we should have gone in for Kante in hindsight before Chelsea got him. I've lost track of the players we're still struggling to move on, we're not good at that at all, that would help us a lot if we could do it early in the window but I can see that slowing things down again this summer.

I agree. In fact, in the top 7 only rags and Everton have scored less goals than us, so imo we'll need to strengthen both offensively and defensively

Good luck to the lad as he is an outstanding talent, but let him develop both as a footballer and as a man for a few years first surely.

Or, rather, Cope (Spanish media) reported the rags had made an offer of around £110m, a world record, for Mbappe and were the only club with an offer on the table.

Other teams "interested" listed as Real Madrid, Chelsea and (lol) Arsenal. No mention of City.

IMO Monaco will hold him for another year and gamble his stock doesn't drop.

Rumours Silva, Bakayoko, Lemar and Sibide also leaving Monaco this season, along with Fabinho.

They won't lose all of them as well as Mbappe.

Not convinced all of those players will leave.

That would be a bad gamble. They should sell at 110.

I agree, but I don't think for a second the rags are offering such an insane amount for an 18 year old with only one season of success.

Another successful year at Monaco and he might be worth a huge number, plus Monaco save face by not parting ways with all their big names in one window after a title. Win-win for both sides.
