if there were prizes for the winners of online voting, liverpool would win the quadrouple every year. what is it with liverpool fans constanlty hijacking every poll?!!

I suspect because of the same reasons everyone else has already stated for almost 250 pages now:

1) Doesn't think we need Mbappe. We have a young potentially world class striker and an older (but not prohibitively old) world class striker.
2) Insane, genuinely insane, money for an 18 year old with one good season in Ligue 1. Could easily turn out to be a flash in the pan or suits that league or only Monaco's playstyle, and besides if you invest over 100 million in a player and then they have problems off the pitch (family, crime, health etc.) then you've kind of put all your eggs in one basket.
3) There are still HUGE holes in the team, and they aren't at CF so the the money could be spent elsewhere. We still have no full backs, only 2 decent centre backs, and whilst we have 2 players at DM they're both over 30 and neither is really a perfect fit.
4) What does this mean for Kun? Yeah every who is anyone has said he is staying, but if we have Sane, Sterling, Jesus, Alexis, Bernardo, KDB, Merlin, Gundogan, Kun AND Mbappe all going for 5 attacking spots then surely some of them are going to miss out on game time. (Personally I think if Pep thinks that'll be okay it then thats good enough for me, but you can still see why people are concerned).
5) Talk of us ignoring CB so that we can sign him, or waiting on our primary targets for other positions, in case this one comes off does sound like a potentially horrible idea.

The way I see Mbappe is that IF he decides to leave Monaco this summer, this is our only chance to get him, unless he flops and then why would we want him. If an 18 yr old Messi came on the market now, would it make sense to break the bank to get him, knowing what he would become?

I've seen very little of Mbappe outside the two games against us, but if Pep believes in him and if the club are willing to pay what looks an unbelievable fee, then so be it. I'm sure that wouldn't be at the expense of the rest of the team where strengthening is critical - we knew we needed fullbacks last season, but for whatever reason held off. That's not an option this year, so this would have to be as well as not instead of.

I was excited when I saw Pearce had signed "D Beasley" on loan on transfer deadline day, watching the last hour of it on ceefax, despite having no idea who he was. If someone wants to break the world record, then bring it on. Let's be noisy.

Wow that takes me back.

Demarcus Beasley, he was dog wank. I had high hopes for him, like I had for Nery Castillo. Speaking of it, I had high hopes for all our signings back then, yet nearly everyone of them turned out worst than shite.

Read an article this morning saying Mbappe was obsessed about the CL, so why would he be second favourite to join Arsenal. Surely they're out of the equation.

I'd love to be proved wrong on this but haven't Real Madrid expressed an interest in him? If so, he will be going there. They rarely don't get what they want. Money is not an issue either as they'll just 'sell' another training ground or something to the Spanish Government.

I think most clubs would like to give him another year as he's still very young. Can we really be that sure he's that good after 1 season in a weak league (and his goal return is not that great), but to do risks losing out. He and Silva looked very good when we played them. Individually the best performances against us last season, but were they were one offs?

Martial looked pretty good last season. He must have looked pretty good when Utd paid £50m for him 2 years ago. Look at him now.

If it were just one club interested, your concern may well be justified. Why not let those above our pay grades decide whether we think he is worth the punt

When you see what was paid for Martial it's probably not as outrageous... Just what United did - buy him for a massively inflated fee because you think he's going to be worth it and to stop anyone else getting him. Obviously when you gamble there's always a risk it doesn't pay off (as they found out).

This lad is on a different planet to our guys, 18 y o & he is some player.

Dembelle is another who looks the dogs bollocks compared to England's overrated bunch of toasters.

Ali has been shite again & Cahill has had 2 arseholes ripped out of him
