L.A

Doing 4 nights in vegas and 4 nights in L.A not planning on getting a car so will probably stay as close to 1 of the main attractions??
Yep, Burbank is a great shout - it's a local gem and infinitely easier to get in/out of LA in general

@Gaudion M is right, SF is a nice shout but you're really talking about a lot of driving (minimum 6 hrs, longer if you take the more scenic PCH) and the Bay Area while smaller than LA is still rife with traffic issues

I like the beaches (Both north LA like Malibu or Zuma, more central like Hermosa/Manhattan). Of course, I despise the touristy spots and with LA you will have many choices for that if that interests you. If you rent a convertible, you have to drive through the canyons and Muhlholland

When I lived & schooled in LA, visitors always wanted to go to Universal but I never quite understood the interest since it is pretty poor value with little to remember that you haven't seen online already. And if you're coming from Europe, Europa Park is miles better than either Disneyland or Magic Mountain (Valencia). I always recommend seeing/doing the things you will struggle to elsewhere - beaches & food

If you make it out to Burbank area, recommend Porto's Cuban bakery - crazy lines but everything is great. Fish n Chips, there is a popular spot that is worth a taste in Malibu along PCH. Lots of Iranians too so Persian food is first rate (Raffi's is excellent). Mexican, sooo many choices and at the high end plenty of choices too

Word of caution too, something I always remind people - in LA, even in Beverly Hills, you are never more than a stone's throw from trouble so be aware of your surroundings and potential danger. Because there is so much mobility by car, transient crime happens throughout the LA area at any time of day

We stayed at Universal (Sheraton hotel) and never went to the theme park. It was perfect because it's next to 101 and Burbank airport is 20 minutes up the road. You can fly in from Vegas, hire a car (or Uber) and be in your hotel almost within the hour whereas with LAX you can at least treble that.

Another thing worth mentioning and one downside to having a car is the parking is CRAZY expensive and it will likely be $20-$40 per night at most decentish hotels.

The one place I'd avoid on most peoples list is the Hollywood Walk, it's one of those supposed glamorous places that actually is a bit of a sh*thole. If you like watching people muck about whilst trying to sell you shite then it's the place to go.

Watch for earthquakes as well (not that you can lol), we were there for the 6.4 and 7.1 last year, very weird!

There's buses. And tour buses. And... Erm... Erm...

The metro!!
