I think we are all better educated and more aware than previous generations partly because information is more available (Internet etc) and so it's a cop-out to say you won't vote for a party because of some class issue or what you think happened 30 years ago. In today's climate Brown hasn't got a clue, he has spent until we are bankrupt with no discernable gain. Lib Dems are no hopers and that only leaves the Toties or nobody. Anybody promising less interference and less central decision making is, in my opinion, talking sense with things as they are.

"Ducks"

Do you really think we are better educated and more aware than those that watched the modern political system evolve?

I don't.I just think we are more cynical.

And that has led to apathy.

I cannot see myself voting for anyone.

The whole point of voting is that it is a personal matter.

And by the way they all piss in the same pot..............................................

What's the difference these days? At least you knew where you stood in the days of Thatcher v Scargill.

I feel your pain with regards to seeing people voting themselves(stealing) money off others, but, truth be told, you, and others like you who rail against socialist scum, are no different. You also support the forceful withdrawal of money etc from the populace. You just want it in different amounts, from different areas and for different reasons.

Yep I think everyone should be forced to pay for a things like a police force and an army incase we're invaded, but there are hundreds of taxes I'm against, and the idea that because you're rich you have to pay a higher percentage of your earnings than a poor person is so totally unfair it beggars belief. So is the fact that if you put your kid through private education you still have to contribute to state education.

I'm interested in your view though - do you think society would be better without police?

I sympathise with you, and would have agreed with you some 12 months ago, concerning a "Nightwatchmen State" (presuming that is all that you think a gov. should be concerning itself with) and , truth be told, I would love this to occur (I'm not against small gains, as I realise my perfect view of society is a multi-generational, almost entirely educational, development - a whole new enlightenment) but on one condition - the police and army are funded voluntarily, atleast eventually (not against small gains, as I said). I'd still be going on and on about the evils of such a system, mind you :P

It has taken years and alot of de-propagandizing for me to come to terms with, and embrace, a stateless society. Doing so whilst coming through State controlled education is, as you could imagine, pretty difficult ;) and I do believe society would be better without a monopolistic state run police force. For me to explain why would take a lot of effort (and typing) because ,well, society, and the effects of the state on society, the family, and the individual, (almost completely negative) is a complex maze of interactions. With that said, I do plan on writing up an indepth essay, dare I say - Manifesto :O , as to why a State is evil, both in practical terms and philosophically, and why, and how, a Stateless society would be the opposite. I'm sure everyone here cannot wait for that :P

I think both parties are so far out of touch with the working man or woman, that I see absolutely no difference.

At election time you get to change one gang of shysters for another, the end result is always the same, a load of greedy politicians whose only interests are their own at the tax payers expense.

I was watching Question Time tonight and predictably a question arouse about the economy at which point the Tories had ago at Labour, they pointed out that the Tories would do the same, Lib Dems feebly said we told you and the debate descended into a farce. I'm so exasperated at mainstream politics, there's no proposals just petty arguments. It's time for a change folks.
