Labour / Tory Party meltdown Referendum fallout

IDS on Andrew Marr - talk about back tracking. How can he sit there and lie about the lies he's told. He's spent the £380m a week saved by leaving - 3 times. He's giving it to the NHS, he's still giving EU funding to the regions and he wants to stay in the single market - which like Norway we will need to pay for. I don't think financing and budgeting is his thing.

I think the referendum thread is better for this but people will need to draw a line under it, ids and Javed have both been handed their arses on a plate, both of them and others exaggerated and lied to win a vote. Part of winning an election is garnering the support of idiots. If one side plays the game the other has to follow. Trying to argue which side had more simpletons that were duped is futile.

If people are upset about lying politicians then please don't vote for the fuckers and please don't ignore the liars just because they are lying on your behalf.

People are strange if a city player dives it's because every other fuckers does it, if the other teams player dives he is just a ****.

My problem with Corbyn (and im sure many others) is that he was so vocal about binning Trident. However.... if he now accepts that we won't be part of the EU and accepts that our defences must be maintained then I can see a lot suddenly backing him. Every man and his dog knows he wanted out of the EU anyway so he could pull a lot of the defected voters back towards the left...

Regardless of his politics the problem with Corbyn is he doesn't lead.

In his defence it is hard to lead when you turn round and your team is staring at the ceiling or are hiding in the bogs calling you all the names under the sun.

Actually that's the perfect environment to lead. You have a clear opportunity to set the tone. It's when you're surrounded by yes me that it's hard to lead. Many people confuse leadership with administration. The two are very different.

Nice words from Chris Bryant about Ed Miliband being quoted this morning:

"I might go and punch him because he's a tosspot and he left the party in the state it's in," he said.

Sadly for most on here Blair seems the most statesman like of any of the Politicans who have been on here today

I accept the left wing start calling him a war criminal but he is ciming across as a pragmatist

Interesting bit from the guardian

If Boris Johnson looked downbeat yesterday, that is because he realises that he has lost.

Perhaps many Brexiters do not realise it yet, but they have actually lost, and it is all down to one man: David Cameron.........

Mod note. Please post a link and dont just copy and paste full articles.

Thanks.
Why is that interesting? Just The Graudain being bitter.

he wont though,he will keep his ideas and argue were still a member of NATO,however if things change in Scotland Faslane will be binned and shifted to England

Got to be honest. Difficult to criticise that Interview with Blair. He's still not my favourite ex PM (putting it lightly) but at least he gave a pragmatic view and declined to comment on the Labour party crisis.

But that was what he was, a good statesman and politician, unfortunately his personal views on some subjects took him in a direction that alienated some of the party, and country.

Completely disagree mate I don't have much in common with Corbyn but the grass roots wanted him, we are being told he is failing, who are telling us this? The media and those people in the party who are supposed to be supporting him. The labour supporters turn on the TV or read a paper and see how useless Corbyn is. The plp are only concerned about their own seats and have shit themselves from day one because Corbyn got a media kicking from the right.

If labour won an election by being like the tories then who wins? Not labour supporters just the mp's who threw away their ideals to keep a job.

So I have seen Benn and Hiedi Alexander resigning, and read statements from others, all are saying they have no plan for a new leader and not sure if there will be a leadership challenge.
Stop wasting our time if they want him out then one of them should show some stones and put up against him, if they won't then shut up and get on with their job.
It's a complete joke the lot of it.

May be worth remembering who triggers a general election. The PM holds that power and from time to time PMs threaten their cabinet that they will call one if they can't get their own way. If Cameron really wants to stitch Boris up he could be threatening one behind the scenes to influence the choice of leader. Dirty tricks but this is Westminster.

One thing is for sure, the vote last week has shaken the politicians in this country deeply.

I don't think for one minute that the majority of them thought the people would vote out.

As someone said previously the days of revolutions are long gone but this vote was as close to a modern day version of a revolution as it gets.

About time too, long overdue.
