So having pursued 14 years of house price inflation through an excess of credit and money printing, Labour are now saying "look, nobody can afford to live here any more! Let's increase inflation then borrow and print more money for people to pay their rents/ mortgages with,"

"Oh and by the way, let's sign up to an overarching global free trade deal because obviously increasing our costs in the UK relative to the rest of the world won't have any effect on our international competitiveness."

Stupid, thick twats are never happy unless they're destroying the economy.

Infantile response.

Saying that if they win the General Election they will raise the minimum wage to £8 an hour. Fair play to Millibland, this is a vote winner.

He's on the Andrew Marr show right now.

Edit: said the following:

1. They will raise the higher tax bracket to 50%.
2. Wouldn't be dragged into the English MPs voting on English issues.
3. NHS would be protected, everyone would be able to see their GP within 48 hours.

Handled himself quite well, but still sounds like he needs to blow his nose.

He's a total shithouse.

Always said that what we've been missing in the recession of the last few years is rampant inflation. Well done Ed Milliband for finding an instant overnight fix that will drive wages and then the cost of living further upwards. More magic money brought to you by new(ish) labour.
Labour are rapidly becoming what the Libs used to be - the party that could promise anything because they will never be elected.

So it will be £8:00 per hour by 2020, the generous bastard,

Politics would be so much better without politicains

Will the folk getting £8.50 an hour now see their wage rise proportionally to nearer 10 at the same time ?

I very much doubt that tbh

Yer right, Alf. It will merely swell the ranks of those who are on the minimum wage. Millibean simply comes out with whatever he thinks might garner a few thousand more votes. Never have I seen a leader of a major party attempt to shine as brightly as he does. It's in vain. In the end, all he can conjure up is 40watts.

£8 hr is unsustainable for a lot of businesses and will see many low waged jobs disappearing
That's what the Tories said when the minimum wage was first introduced!

I can remember the ever impressive Ruth Lea, who was then at the Institute of Directors, making the point that a minimum wage is of and in itself a terrific idea to protect employees from exploitation, and the level at which it was set was unlikely to be a problem for reputable businesses. But she cautioned that if it was pushed up for political reasons then it would become a problem.

She's probably someone you'd call a Tory. Can you argue with any of that?

Re: Labour's Minimum Wage Promise/Millibland on Andrew Marr

Just on the money programme, its £8.50 by 2020 so actually giving nothing as with inflation it would be this amount anyway, so all the scroungers who cant read will just follow the sheep and vote labour again.

Re: Labour's Minimum Wage Promise/Millibland on Andrew Marr

Honestly, would anybody seriously vote for this chinless wanker?
