Lack of pace on the wings

Pep chooses Grealish and Mahrez because he wants to slow the game down, keep control of the ball and minimise counter attacks.

Posters might not agree with the tactics but the players are doing what they are told and doing it well.
I really don't get it. Correct me if I am wrong but A world class coach tells two out of three in the front to slow the game down with a striker who doesn't do much of link up play & we play with 3 CBs at the back and a midfield where only creativity comes from Kevin.

He is still a superb player, but he can't play 3 games in a week anymore, and if he does he has to have a free role and that's when he becomes a problem.

His fitness / condition is the issue, not his ability.
I just don't see how you go from being world class to being an issue for the team in the space of a week. Few players can go full tilt in 3 consecutive games when they play like him. Especially so when NONE of the others are pulling up trees to lighten the load. It's a selection and management issue, and as we know, these seem to happen from time to time.

Because he had a 6 week holiday, then came back for the dippers game fired up , decent at Leeds but struggled on Saturday.

He's not looked great in terms of fitness for a few seasons, we need to take better care of him otherwise his career will be over quickly.

That's the issue and problem with the other players. Without KDB we have little creativity, the rest have to shape up, we are carrying a few too many passengers at this time and coming into a crazy busy month that's not healthy.

Imo the club and pep is making a big statement to the players who are seemingly discontent. He is starting players who are in the right headspace. Now these players might not be good enough to warrant a starting position and we will drop points. There is a bigger fight on here and one pep must win. So on reflection now. The point at Everton was a good one. Not in terms of the league but more so to any player having an off season. The club would rather leave you out and drop points. The boss is getting the support he needs.

I suggest we all take a different view of what’s actually going on this season. So well done to Ake, Akanji, Mahrez, Grealish for trying win us games. Shame on the other players for putting the club in a difficult position.

It’s abit like the strikes happening across the country. We all support them until it starts to effect our daily routine. Some players are doing the same thing this season. Stand with pep. Keep them out of the first team.
Even though I agree with much of what you said... But the point vs Everton was NOT a good one under any circumstance. It was bad. Period.

One point in a home fixture against this Everton team is two points lost in anyone's book.

We are 7 points off the top, that's more than enough of a gap.

Bernardo is the only one going from that trio, the best player at that.

Grealish and Mahrez know they are on a good thing, on long-term, incredible money.

Mahrez will be here longer than anyone!
If PSG are (still) interested in Riyad, he would go there but his wife is not keen on the idea so he may well stay as long as he can.

His form is on the up again so let's hope that trend continues.

Pep's whole philosphy is about controllling the game. People may not like it - I personally do - but it's proved a rather successful approach for Pep so far in his managerial career and City have benefited from it.

Wenger was similar being stubborn to a philosophy, but football changes and we have only 1 non-Pep player left and it shows.

We just gave Mahrez a contract until he turns 34. Watching a 33-34 year old Mahrez is going to be fun! We also gave Grealish and Phillips 6-year deals. Unless the club is willing to invest in a top class winger when those 2 are still at the club, people are going to have to get used to watching those 2!
