If you take a country with skills and close off all the skilled trade in favour of private business and overseas trading, yes, it will look good for a while. Then, you get the skilled traders leaving the country to go elsewhere and the country bringing in foreign skilled traders to work here. Overseas trading goes up as they squeeze us for more dough cos of the strong currency... Hmmm. No sure of tthe logic that makes Britain a 'better country than it is now', Rob.

If this happens it is a disgrace, an insult to a nation who suffered from her policies!
My parents left the UK because of her, all my family in Manchester hate her, they spit when she is mentioned! and until this week I never understood fully why.
Last week when I was back in NYC I asked my parents why they hate Thatcher so much, since very few people seem to like her! I have asked them a few times but just got shrugged off. This time my farther gave me a boxed set of Boys from The Black Stuff' by Alan Bleasdale; watch it and you'll understand why he said.
I have, and I cried through every one, seeing people suffer, losing everything due to Thatchers evil economic policies!: Yosser's story the worse!
I'm led to believe these short stories reflect the UK in 1982, if so: Rot in Hell woman!
This woman does not deserve a state funeral! she deserves a slow agonising death!

After the privatisation of industries, which gave birth to the Fat Cat, that took all of our cream, how were Labour supposed to take everything back, spending hundreds of millions and millions to do so and restore the country as a trading island? It had gone too far to turn back.

Whether she was right or whether she was wrong I just can't get my head round how such a divisive Public figure could be given a State Funeral.

To put this into perspective it has only before been given to the likes of Nelson and Churchill (and a couple of others).

I doubt we will see any dockworkers lowering the crane arms like they did for Churchill. Probably because there aren't any left!
