Not too bad a short term signing would of loved Villa instead but hey ho. Anyway think this will be a great deal think if we get 10 games from him during that time will be good. Think he will benefit the younger EDS players on the verge of moving into the first team club. They will learn tons and tons from the likes of Lampard that will benefit them as they progress into the first team squad. On a negative side James Milner might not be too happy to see Lampard at the club. Giving him less game time as I am guessing that Lampard will get enough game time to get any medal from City winning the title this coming season hopefully.
How would it effect Milner? I would have thought he would competing against Navas, Silva and Nasri for a place in the team.

Imo Lampard will used as 4th choice cm which would allow Rodwell and Garcia to be moved on.
I think he was referring to that strange idea Jimmy has that he's a centre mid.

Does this mean then we go shopping in January? Considering we are on the verge of selling Rodwell and Garcia can't fit in the squad due to limit of foreigners. In January we have 3 midfielders when Lampard leaves. (no shit) So do we have spending cap still in January?
Will be interesting to see how long the Zuculini loan deal is, perhaps he might replace Lampard in Jan.

Wenger can go and cry in a corner. There is nothing wrong in this deal in relation to FFP. We could afford Lampards wages fully if we had wanted. It a normal loan. There is no circumventing FFP on this because nothing in this deal affects FFP. We are reducing our wages by a lot and we only had to keep it to the amount it was in 2013/14. Fucking hate Wenger. If this is wrong then loaning players in or out is wrong as well.

I believe the deal with UEFA for this season is that city have to pay the FULL wages of any player they loan and the transfer fee to NYFC would be included in out transfer out lay.

anything to back this belief mate?

They are insulted that the MLS are being used as a "Minor league system" that "Sullies the reputation of MLS".
. . . they said that they were upset that city will be "concerned about developing mcfc players and not American players". Which is absurd of course because by MLS's own rules they must develop American players! Silly to think we couldn't do both.

It all comes down to this antiquated idea that MLS should gauge it's success mostly on how well it develops American players. . .Very anti-City, so not unlike your English press I suppose...

Right on. But remember, the American soccer fan is more likely to be a Rag, Liverpool, Chelsea or now Everton fan (due to the influence of Donovan and Howard) and that City have been ruining football since 2008.

MLS has the reputation of being a pre-retirement league, but it doesn't get enough credit, IMO, for being an emerging talents league. That's in part because the impact on the top European leagues has been minimal, though some have had notable success in the Championship and Eredivisie, but hasn't translated at the next step.

However, I think way too much is being made out of this deal on both sides of the pond. NYCFC is wanting to ensure a high level of fan interest from Day 1, however, by year 3 once the team is established, it will be about building for the future through their youth program, and scouting and developing youth talent in NY and probably nationally.

Since City already has an international scouting network, I'm sure NYCFC will be given plenty of leads.

Wenger still bitter about being our feeder club.
No surprise really...

As he sits there on the pile of cash his club has accrued lamenting the folly of other clubs spending theirs and complaining when they do so that its wrong and ruining the game

Oh and at the same time "his owners" US club and the Arse are happiiy lending players to each other........... but that is entirely different of course.

Sure he could do a good job as a deep lying playmaker. Won't be having a heart attack everytime he received the ball from the back 4 anyway, unlike with Garcia (even if he didd improve). Score the odd goal from distance too. Might be nice to have someone in the team who takes a pop every now andd then (other than Kola - who tends to shoot when you don't want him to!)

Seems as Rodwell is off and maybe even Garcia, wouldn't be surprised to see him make ~10 appearances now in all competitions.
