Lancashire CCC

Durham have certainly come to the party these past few games - they hammered Warwickshire last week too and are all of a sudden looking like the team to beat.

I think we'll all agree that before this defeat we've done far better so far this season in the CC than anyone expected because of the obvious lack of strength in depth. However, while this is a reality check it could be (and I know I could be getting way ahead of myself here) that the CC may already be a 2 horse race - there's already a 30 point gap between Lancs and 3rd and 4th spot. Outside the top 2 everyone seems to be beating each other so if we can get back to winning ways straight away then it might come down to the reverse fixture against Durham.

Just had a text saying one of the guys i played with at County level is playing for Lancashire today... Jordan Clark. Will be keeping an eye on him, hope he does well!

well they finished, and won, he finished 13*.

He was a few years younger than me, i know and played more with his brother. But its still good to hear.

I'm guessing he's a batsman?

Batsman Jordan Clark is included the squad for the first time this season. The 20-year old made his first team debut in the CB40 win against Worcestershire Royals last September

Yep he is. He's having a great season so far in the 2nd xi, scored good runs in pretty much every game he's played. He made his first team debut end of last season and played a handy knock, then he hit two big sixes against Derby the other night to get us back in the game. Looks to have a bright future.

According to Wisden he's a wicketkeeper as well

Yeah that sounds right but I think it's more of a part time roll. He hasn't been keeping for the 2nd's but there are about 5 of them in that team at the moment who could take the gloves. I've got a feeling that a couple of years ago he was the leading run scorer or highest average in schools cricket so he's certainly got talent.

Cheers mate, great to hear. I'll try and get down to Old Trafford next 20/20 game if he's playing.

Wonder if you get a decent wage as a County cricketer?

Dunno but there's not a lot of money around in the County game just now and salaries vary depending on the size of the County. Jordan is on a scholarship contract rather than a full one at the moment so he's probably not on that much, but I'm sure if he progresses he'll have a decent living.
