So let me get this right,if we had scored 300 in first inns we would have gained an extra point and stayed up ?
Correct. As noted by the previous poster, we were docked a point in the home game against Yorkshire for a slow over rate: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/jul/24/joe-root-career-best-figures-yorkshire-lancashire
No one else had any points deducted, so that one lost point has effectively cost us our First Division place.
Lancs relegation is a bit of a joke really when you look at some of the numbers.
Same points as Notts.
Lost less games than Notts.
3rd best batting bonus points (likely finish 4th best), despite the batting really being the problem.
Highest bowling bonus points.
Some very poor capitulations are the cause, Surrey, Yorkshire to name 2, and a late collapse yesterday.
We were 273 for 7, needing 27 runs for the last 3 wickets to gain the extra batting point we needed. Then a few minutes later, 273 all out.
It also pisses me off to read stuff like this from the captain:
If you have enough dismally poor sessions to ensure that you finish with the record we did, you finish exactly where you deserve.
