No it wasn't we stayed up and had some cracking away wins near the end to balance out the mediocre home form. Pearce had become U21 manager months earlier as a dual role.

So you enjoyed the Pearce years then?

You are the first and possibly only person in our history that thinks that wasn't a shit season.

We finished 14th, how was that shit? I went to every game and enjoyed most of them, especially the away wins over Xmas over our rivals and the 3 away games we won to stay up at the end.

As not many went to aways that season I reckon most who say how bad it was probably didn't watch the majority of games.

The worst ever season without any doubt. It was absolutely woeful, devoid of any entertainment, tension or memorable wins. If I recall it was also the season they played crowd sound effects through the PA during the match. That season makes me shudder.
I remember west ham away first game of the following season under Sven and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible - it was because there was a new beginning and a bit of excitement back after what was the most depressing season of all (and I include getting relegated at Stoke in that).

Villa Park- the wonder goal from Distinin front of about 900 city fans, the wins at Sheff U, West Ham both had late winners after Samaras cleared off the line in both, the dominant win at Boro, the Mpenza game at Newcastle and how he thanked the crown after, putting 3 past Fulham away and home. The last minute Richards goal 95th minute at everton, or the win at Preston also stood out.

I thought the piped chanting was the season before when you got Pearce thanking you for attending certain aways and other gimmicks, I am sure it was the Bolton home game 0-1 penalty early 2005/06.

Hhhhhmmm as it stands, they've got 5 mins for a piss break and if they aint out, I'm off. I aint wasting my bank holiday weekend!
Why not just f**k off at the final whistle then, instead of whinging about it. I doubt the players will give a shit, and most of us on here don't.

I want to hear the thoughts of others, maybe they can come up with something that will stop me from missing me first lap of honour. I mean isn't this what a forum is all about?

These were never laps of honour, they were meant to be for the players to thanks the fans.

In 2001 they did a banner before the game saying something like "thank you for your fantastic support" and after the game a woman on the tannoy was bollocking the fans "get of the pitch and stop your disgraceful behaviour".

People can have a go at me all they want, I don't care. But, I care when a gender is being bashed every season just for wanting to kick a ball around and encourage people to watch them play for entertainment.
