Absolute hero of mine. Unsung hero. Played through injury to be our only defender in the end of season run in that year. A fact totally ignored by the media is this country due to them supporting and encouraging Liverpool, they totally missed a hero story. But they miss so many.

Go laporte, excellent goal too!

He was pretty much last man standing in our defence for that title run in. Dragged us over the line.

In 'that' a.amazing season he had with us. To me, he took being a ball playing defender to Beckenbauer levels..without the injury we would have been streets ahead, calm talented ball player would have just needed a couple of grafters along side him..Ake or Dias..stones in front..we would have had so much control

Also explains why Akanji was hurriedly signed as an emergency CB and Gvardiol is the long term replacement!
