Laser eye surgery

Had mine done 3 or 4 months ago at optimax in town, wish i'd done it years ago. It only took 9 minutes I think they said and I could see better pretty much straight away although things were a bit blury cos of all the eye drops they put in. It was a bit uncomfortable for a minute at the start but that's the only slight negative I can think of, there's no pain at all. It's worth putting up with that for the results though

Had my eyes done Inochular implants from Optical Express. £2900 best thing I have ever spent my money on. got to be done.

Had mine done in 1993 in London my a consultant surgeon from Stoke Mandeville. His normal job was reconstructing eyes damaged in car crashes etc.

They videoed the procedure to use as a traing film as I was one of the first to have it done. Cost me £2,800 which was a lot of money then.

My eyesight was pretty much 20/20 until old age caught up and I am now slightly long sighted so wear glasses for reading etc.

One of the best things I ever did

Whenever I watch a TV documentory on this subject, all the experts are wearing glasses, so I think that says it all

This is very true..
My wife is a nurse at an Opthalmic surgery and none of their surgeons will do laser and most of them wear glasses, laser will stop you having to wear glasses if you only need them for long OR short sightedness (not both) but long term effects are unkown

That's not true, I had one eye done for long the other for short as I needed vari focals before and once your brain resets what to expect from your eyes everything is as good as it was when I had " young " eyes.

Patients we see who had it done about ten years ago tend to end up with astigmatism they didn't have before. Like everything it's evolving all the time though, glad we are near the end of our Optics careers rather than at the start of it I have to say.

yes you can have that done but you can have an eye fixed for both is what I meant

I had it done just before Xmas and love it. I can't believe how good it is. I was long sighted in one eye and short in the other. I had an astigmatism in the short sighted eye. I was a bit dubious at first about having it done, but am so glad I did. The only thing is I wish I had it done years ago.

It's so hard to explain to people who can see things clearly how good it is to be able to see things clearly. If you had told me that I would be able to see this clearly I would have said you were crackers, but it so good being able to see as clear as I can.

How much was it simon? does it make you look different, like a person with contact lenses in?

Starting to think i need it more and more now when i struggle to read certain text on a 50" TV lol

Anyone had it done and can recommend a decent place to use? (I'm in South Wales if that helps)

ARE YOU MAD!!!!! Do you know what they do???

Just watched it on youtube now, obviously not to excited about the surgery itself but looks as though it doesnt take very long.

It's the results i'm looking forward to. Booked in for the end of the month now so I shall soon see :)

The worst part for me was the clamp they use to keep your eyes open is not very comfortable but the actual treatment was a walk in the park. If Optimax filmed people who were coming out of the theatre after the op and their reactions to what had just happened to them, put it on a TV ad they would double their turnover.
