Last 5 years netspend City and the rest of the PL

Financial statements are there to see what we gained net in these years in form of profits

Absolutely on the nail.
Net spend and club profits may have a relationship but they are not one and the same.
Having good net spend does not automatically result in an accumulated war chest targeting a future transfer splurge.

Hey guys I've redone my entire thread on the last 5 years, enjoy!

Great work Agent BlueBrain. Makes interesting reading, particularly as a counterpoint to the routinely negative agenda adopted by the mainstream media. That said, it's high time the club itself took a public stand to change the narrative.

no it is not. your spend was always near the top 3. once the english teams realize your academy is shit overrated, incoming money will stop for you. then you will have nowhere to hide your market distortion.
I think Chelsea will be particularly affected by FIFAs 8 (and reducing) loan players rule.
They’ll have to sell, rather than keep a massive squad

That chart is net spend though, not gross spend. You're right, we will have some outgoings this summer and that's the difference. Our outgoings are worth good money, Gundogan aside, who is out out of contract unless he signs an extension.

You have to have a fire sale as you can't even register some of your players for the PL or CL right now. That's an untenable situation and ripe for exploitation by other clubs. Lord knows how it's going to affect your academy.

Okay yeah fair enough, didn't look at the chart closely enough, thought it was a net spend table. But still, these tables fluctuate. United and Liverpool with their new owners coming in soon will probably go on a spending spree and I can honestly see City doing the same to refresh the squad. You're linked with both Leao and Bellingham and they'll both cost around 100m or more each.

As for the fire sale, there will be interest in a lot of them. Gallagher had about 4 clubs interested, Chelsea blocked a sale to Newcastle on deadline day. RLC and CHO can fetch decent fees as they're English and English clubs have money to burn. It won't be easy to trim the squad to where we need it to be but we can get some easy wins (like Jorginho to Arsenal) because there will be interested clubs, and some rather desperate clubs like Everton.

As I said in the Chelsea thread, there are a lot of juggling balls in the air at the moment. We'll have a clearer picture during the summer. Until then we can just speculate.

Alright calm down ffs. You sound very angry for some reason. I was talking about net spend. Didn't realise the discussion was around gross spend. Our 5 year net spend before 2022 was around midtable because we have been excellent at selling players over the years.

there is a strong rumour that your past wanker owner was giving some buying clubs the money to over pay for some of the players you managed to shall we say get extremely favourable fees for....................

I'll love to see this rumour but I'll bet your definition of what constitutes to a 'strong rumour' differs wildly from mine :)

There are rumours our owner buys every seat in our stadium.

These rumours from rival fans probably come from Big Dave down the pub and have zero truth in them.

As a Chelsea fan it must be exciting, but as an outsider looking in it’s a new way of building a squad, new length of contract and potentially a new way of spending a lot within FFP. All this from someone new to premier league and European football.

Is he a visionary or has he just gone a bit crazy, time will tell.

Those good old American white boys at Chelsea are redefining the transfer market and showing incredible creative thinking, while us Dirty Arab owned monsters are destroying the game, incredible that our owner still allows this narrative, please stop it HRH.
100% this. It’s astonishing how no one is saying a word about Chelsea spending almost 500 million euros in the last 6 months on new players just because they are owned by a white Yank.

Ahh apologies. I think we're talking about different charts anyway (although you still top both).

No doubt we'll spend some cash this summer although outgoings and the last few seasons clever trading will balance a lot of it. It won't be at the net or gross outgoings of Chelsea lately, I doubt we'll ever see the like again if UEFA act swiftly.
