Congratulations and thank you for your service.Well it seems to have taken ages but has come up quick, today I retire from the fire service 20 years 9 months, 35 years in public service in total! The last 6 months are not how I wanted to finish but there was sod all I could do about my bloody back, I’m gutted not to have had that one last good shout. It’s been an honour to have served the people of Manchester and I’ve made friends for life in the job they really are like a second family. Thankfully with the way everything’s going in the country I’m going at just the right time, I will be mortgage free and have some savings behind me and the family now. Hope to get a camper van and get out and see some of the U.K. and Europe following City as much as possible now, the mad dog we got will keep me fit. If you can do it finish as early as you can you never know what’s round the corner.
Which coast mate? Unfortunately my daughter is only 10 so stuck in oldham for at least that.Enjoy your life bud now it's more your own.
I luckily by being in the right place/right time got out of my Civil Service job at 51, 8 years ago, seems like about 2!!!!!
Mrs Moon also escaped due to ill health at the time a couple of years later, she's fine now (fingers crossed).
We've never sat there thinking what should we do/board....I couldn't tell you how we full all our days but, there'd be no time for a proper job that's for certain.
Recently moved to the coast from deepest darkest Chadderton late spring once family circumstances allowed and loving it. Bought cycles & walk everywhere in clean fresh air. Only use the car for big shops, football or Mrs Moon's P/T job some weekends which can hundreds of miles away.
