Last Film You Saw

cheers

is it gory? it makes a difference to whether i watch it with the wife or not
Not really, it is more a "WTF, that is fucked up" type film, not human centipede fucked up though. It doesn't need to resort to visual shock with gore. The writing and screen play are more than good enough to hold up as thriller/horror scary as it is bud.

"Vice".

My goodness, what a brilliant film!!

So many deft touches, so much messaging and massive breadcrumbs as to how America got where it is now.

I knew much of what happened in this film, but when you don't know the other missing pieces, it's impossible to put things together as well as what happens here!

This film is 'House of Cards' on steroids and it's mostly factually true!!

Bale is simply brilliant.

I cannot see past Adam McKay for 'best director' and Bale for 'best actor'.

Up there with my favourite films in recent times.

Is it me of is there no clear front runner for the Oscars this year.

It is the worst Star Wars film they've ever made. There are so many loopholes, weak side plots and just all round bad story telling.

The start with Poe's phone call is just hilariously unfunny, the whole initial fight where Poe decides to override orders for a shot at the dreadnought was ridiculous.

Snoke is a non entity, we never found out who he was...and how many fucking times can Kylo Ren seemingly change his mind about what he wants to be?

Then you get onto the most iconic character which is Luke Skywalker and he's basically reduced to a guy with wank jokes and actions that are embarrassing. The last shot of TFA where Rey holds him the saver is so powerful and Johnson basically offers a massive fuck you by having him lob it over his shoulder.

Rose...the less said about her the better, as for Leia's scene in space well Mary Poppins came out before Christmas and they've basically photoshopped Carrie Fishers face over Julie/Emily floating.

I thought TFA and Rogue One were fantastic....this killed my hope for the franchise and I hope to god Johnson never fucking gets another shot..the fact he's still down to do a trilogy is a fucking travesty.

While I can understand the negative reception TLJ received, I am a little taken back at how pessimistic it has made everyone. Everyone seems to be writing off the star war franchise because of one average movie.

I have a feeling that we may look back at this movie in a few years time and start to appreciate it. Once we come to love the characters more it will be great to go back and see where they came from.

I want to hear what people want to see next from star wars. Tell me how this franchise, and in particular this trilogy, can restore your faith?

Cheers for that, it's one i was on the fence about watching...will give it a go!

I will be interested to read your take on it.

I think this is a good question that needs to factor in the Oscars panel.

What I think is that Rami Malek will win, for sure. He brings a lightness of touch to playing Freddie Mercury that pleases across the board.

For me, Bale wins above Mortenson and Malek. Mortonsen is traditional with his character and doesn't have to do much with it.

Bale is unrecognisable and not just cos of the extra weight and prosthetic. I was immersed by the Cheney portrayal and it's quite difficult to get me engrossed in any film.

The direction and edit with the juxtaposition of certain scenes was just right.

This film left an imprint in my mind.

Very very good.

cheers mate thanks for the info

At the moment, from what I have seen, Green Book should win the best picture Oscar, with Olivia Coleman for The Favourite and Rami Malek for Rhapsody.

I've watched that Bale one and although a good film I wasn't engaged probably because it was US politics.

Just back from Stan & Ollie

Great acting all round and a very well made film which I did enjoy - I think - its just that as a Laurel & Hardy fan I found the story (which is largely based on fact) a little sad, poignant and maybe just a bit upset at the way it ended - the tour I mean - for these two wonderful performers

A lot of people have asked me when Bohemian Rhapsody will be out. Well, there is now a screener out with AC3 (Dolby 5.1) audio. There will be digital releases available January 21st/22nd with the Bluray set to be released on February 12th.
have you watched the new release? a lot of the comments say the audio is out of sync at the end, ill give it a miss if it is
