Last Film You Saw

what I am not understanding is this love in for the banshees of inisherin, decent enough with good performances, but the film was nowt memerable or worth a rewatch later in life
Thought BoI was shit! A few amusing, quirky moments, but the whole premise is ridiculous!

Just watched Arrival again (Amy Adams & Jeremy Renner). One of my all-time favorite movies.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) - 5/10

Hit and miss humour again (not as bad as Thor L&T), under par CGI, lack of character development. Michelle Pfeiffer and Jonathan Majors were great, the rest not so much. First 2 acts are above average but the 3rd act is terrible, felt like a Kang prequel as opposed to Ant-Man 3.
Went to an empty cinema to watch it, enjoyable but the magic of Marvel has gone now. I’d give it 6.5/10 miles better than BP2, the two post credit scenes obvioulsy tie in with the TV shows. I think they really need FF4 to blow up to peak my interest again.

Top Gun 8.5/10 one of my all time favourites the wife has never seen it! Will be watching Maverick next weekend with her.

Working through some classic films at the moment.....much to the annoyance of my wife!!

Some good ones I can recommend:-

The man who shot liberty Valance
Bad Day at Black Rock
In the Heat of the Night
The Glenn Miller Story

Most on here have probably seen them many times but they are always worth a re-watch.
Watched recently and thoroughly enjoyed

3:10 to Yuma (the original)
The Big Country
Joe Kidd
In Enemy Country
The shop around tge corner
The Sand Pebbles

TBC, great theme music and opening sequence. Funny, I watched the shop around the corner last night, very good. I think you've got mail was based on it.

Based on your recommendation I just got through watching Bad Day at Black Rock - 9/10. Superb acting.

Since you like older films... have you seen "All About Eve"? A must watch!

It is, isn't it?
Back then screenwriters had more skill in dialogue, and there were less fewer whispered/mumbled/drowned by music exchanges.

Of course, being able to add Spencer Tracy in this case, or James Stewart for Liberty Vallance, is essentially cheat mode.

I've not yet seen, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" - it's next my list of movies to watch.

Young lad (23) who works with me has never seen a Tarantino film.

Made him watch Pulp Fiction over the weekend. Blew his head off...

I was somewhat jealous of him watching it for the first time, knowing nothing/very little about it.

#1 Tarantino film imo.
