Last Film You Saw

'Twisters' in 4DX. Really enjoyed it.

The experience was absolutely taylor made for this type of film. Whenever the crew were getting close or about to get caught up within a tornado it created a genuine anticipation for what the 4DX experience would bring with that.

The stand out thing was probably how effective the fans were blowing air in from the sides and simulating the tornado. You felt the 'wind' blowing through the room but the noise the fans made was cleverly masked within the sound mix itself. The water sprays were more of a wet mist that you couod feel in the air and it added to the general ambience.

The seats will always have that funfair ride aspect to them. Not a fan of the way they jolt you about which usually happened when chasing a tornado and something would hit their truck or they would take a short cut by going off-road (hold on).

Other quirks were the opening scene that ended with one of the crew being sucked up by the tornado. All the effects stand down, fade to white screen and loads of people in the room start laughing, relieved that the ride is over.

Another was the smoke pyro going off at the front of the seating (a record 6 or 7 times!) and slowly fanning out throughout the room. This added to the effect of the tornado but the smoke would hang around for a good 5+ minutes or so after the action scene was over. It felt especially strange when the story had moved on and you were in another location like inside an airport but the room was still full of smoke and you could see the light from the projector shining through it.

All in all I'd say Twisters was probably one of the best 4DX experiences so far. Unfortunately it's going to lose all premium screens to 'Deadpool & Wolverine' so the chance to see it in that format might be gone. They may put it back on for a couple more showings after D&W has had the next two weekends and all in between.
4DX is absolutely brilliant. Might give this film a watch tomorrow :)

Deadpool (2016):

Deadpool 2 was showing on Granada last night and we had missed the first 20 minutes, so decided to rewatch the original Deadpool. It's quite surprising how you can forget a film after only a few years and glad we tucked in for another watch. A true adaptation of the book and a must see Marvel super hero film that has lashings of balance, comedy and gory violence.

Brilliantly scripted starring Ryan Reynolds and his banging one-liners and sharp comedic timing. Mix it all up with violent set pieces, writing, acting, cinematography and we have a film deserved of a multiple watch.

Score is 10/10

Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax (Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Third one is great as well

the equalizer 3 - usual action hokum uber violent up a notch from the first 2

millers girl - quite enjoyed if ,if a little uncomfortable at times given the subject matter, ortega plays a good role

late night with the devil - new angle of a horror film with a nod to the exorcist, a decent watch

Not a fan of gory stuff, but love creepy films and Woman in Black ticks all the boxes.
Oddity (2024) - An Irish supernatural ghost story released in US cinema's last week is the latest buzz amongst horror circles. A UK Premiere on 16th August, and streaming exclusively on HBO Max in November.

Rated 96% on RT

The Bikeriders: 7.5/10

Slow paced, very stylish, a smouldering Austin Butler and a brilliant turn from Jodie Comer. Throwback to the old silver screen days of Brando & James Dean. Enjoyed it.
